Last night (August 12), the International Volleyball Federation (FIVB) made a preliminary ruling, stating that two athletes of the Vietnam U21 volleyball team did not meet the standards to participate in the 2025 U21 Women's Volleyball World Cup.
After this decision by FIVB, the Vietnam U21 women's volleyball team had 4/5 matches in the group stage of the U21 Women's World Cup, currently taking place in Indonesia, canceled. From second place in the group and having a ticket to the round of 16, we fell to the bottom of the group, eliminated from the knockout round.

After this incident, the Vietnam Volleyball Federation (VFV) said it would appeal. The appeal announcement from VFV was supported by the Thai press.
Siam Sport, a newspaper of the Land of Golden Pagodas, wrote: “The Vietnam Volleyball Federation has denied many rumors related to Vietnamese athletes who are being suspended from competing by the Organizing Committee of the 2025 U21 Women's World Cup. The VFV has clearly explained the main reason why two U21 volleyball players were absent from the match that was mentioned recently.”
“VFV clarified that the absence of the two athletes in the match against Puerto Rico was not due to any special reason, but because the Organizing Committee requested additional documents. It is expected that these two athletes will return in the knockout round,” Siam Sport added.

Also according to Thailand's leading sports daily, the information that some Indonesian newspapers previously reported was not the same as the statement from VFV.
Siam Sport continued to share: "The Vietnam Volleyball Federation affirmed that the incident was not the same as reported by some Indonesian media."
“VFV has sent an official dispatch to clarify the issues with the U21 Women’s World Cup Organizing Committee and the International Volleyball Federation (FIVB). VFV hopes that both athletes involved in the Vietnam U21 Women’s Volleyball Team will return to the round of 16,” the same lines were written in Siam Sport.
With the above comments from Siam Sport, it can be seen that the leading sports newspaper in the Land of the Golden Pagoda still believes in the possibility of the Vietnam U21 women's volleyball team successfully appealing the legal battle with FIVB.
On the afternoon of August 13, the Vietnam U21 women's volleyball team won 3-1 (25-16, 26-24, 22-25, 25-20) against Egypt U21 in the 17th-24th place match at the U21 Women's Volleyball World Championship in Indonesia.
