On the afternoon of August 19, Hue City Museum of History received 1,148 documents and artifacts that were once kept and managed by Thuan Hoa Ward Public Service Center.
Through reviewing, comparing records, and updating the catalog, the artifacts and documents are classified according to material groups, including: 143 paper artifacts; 103 wooden artifacts; 54 stone artifacts; 30 plastic artifacts; 10 textile artifacts; 5 leather artifacts; 737 metal artifacts; 366 ceramic artifacts.
According to Mr. Nguyen Duc Loc, Director of Hue City History Museum, in this reception there are many valuable artifacts, especially artifacts from the Champa period, royal decrees from King Minh Mang (Nguyen Dynasty), ancient ceramic artifacts, bronze drums, etc.
The above documents and artifacts are vivid evidence of the flow of history, marking the land and people of Hue. With the diversity of genres of document and artifact groups, this is a necessary and valuable supplementary source, contributing to enriching the existing documents and artifacts of the Hue City History Museum.
The artifacts transferred and received on this occasion were collected and researched by the Department of Culture and Information of Hue City (old) and dedicated collectors. They later served as the basis for the establishment of the Hue Cultural Museum at the French villa at 23-25 Le Loi.
However, due to some reasons, the museum no longer has a name and was merged into the Hue City Culture, Information and Sports Center (old) - then Thuan Hoa District. Since July 1, the artifacts that were once the "assets" of the Hue Cultural Museum have been managed by the Thuan Hoa Ward Public Service Center.
The transfer of documents and artifacts at the exhibition space at 23-25 Le Loi to the Hue City Museum of History aims to preserve and promote the historical and cultural values of Hue. At the same time, properly demonstrate the functions and tasks of a local research museum in collecting, preserving, researching and promoting the value of cultural heritage.
Thereby, documents and artifacts are placed in the right professional position, promoting their value in a concentrated and sustainable manner, in line with the development orientation of Hue city.
Mr. Phan Thanh Hai, Director of the Department of Culture and Information of Hue City, said: After receiving the documents, the Department also directed the City History Museum to continue preserving and completing the documents and artifacts in accordance with the Law on Heritage and the policies of the Party and State to ensure good preservation, conservation and promotion of the values of documents and artifacts in the current period.
