On May 26, the People's Committee of Gio Linh district (Quang Tri province) said that after the local land acquisition period, the construction project of the safety corridor and the railway underpass at Km 607+920 in Gio Linh district, part of the project to reinforce weak tunnels combined with opening new stations and renovating the upper-floor architecture of the Vinh - Nha Trang section of the Hanoi - Ho Chi Minh City railway line, has begun to be implemented by the contractor.

To construct this project, the traffic light cluster at the level crossing has been relocated.
Gio Linh District People's Committee also issued a document approving the traffic organization plan for the construction of the above project.
Accordingly, during the construction period of the project, for households living to the west of the railway, when going to the South, they will follow Ben Loi road, cross the Km 608+691 crossroad to National Highway 1. And to the North, follow the inter-village road to DT 575b road, cross the Km 606+970 crossroad to National Highway 1.
For households on the East side of the railway going to National Highway 1 in the direction of the barrier through the construction unit's barrier, there is a guard at the intersection between National Highway 1 and the construction route.
The two ends of the construction site leading to the level crossing have also been blocked.
The above railway underpass project, when completed and put into use, will make an important contribution to completing the transport infrastructure, ensuring traffic safety, especially connecting the East and West of Gio Linh district, Quang Tri province and contributing to improving the capacity of freight transport and socio-economic development of the locality.
Previously, Giao Thong Newspaper reported the delay in site clearance for the construction of the Km 607+920 railway underpass, affecting the project's progress.
According to the Project Management Board for Investment, Construction, Land Fund Development and Industrial Cluster of Gio Linh District, within the scope of land acquisition for construction of the above project at Km 607+920, there are 13 affected cases.
Many materials and equipment continue to be brought to serve the construction of the railway underpass.
Construction unit's barrier at the intersection between National Highway 1 and the construction route ahead
Recently, the Board has coordinated with relevant units to count, establish, and publicize compensation, support, and resettlement plans for 13/13 affected cases.
During the time of publicizing the compensation and resettlement support plan, there were 5 cases of agreement, 8 cases of disagreement on the plan and recommendations related to the unit price of compensation and support for land and assets on land.
Gio Linh district has organized working sessions with households and individuals affected by land acquisition and clearance for construction projects; at the same time, it has requested relevant departments, agencies, units and local authorities to coordinate in resolving households' petitions according to regulations, speeding up land acquisition and clearance work.
Up to now, this project still has land issues in 1 case.
