On July 31, the Department of Transport of Binh Thuan province said that the Phan Thiet Airport project (Phan Thiet airport) is still stuck with some households that have not yet handed over the land, and the 220kV power line has not been completely relocated.

In Ham Thuan Bac district, there are still 3 households located on the 220kV power line corridor. The district is mobilizing these households. In case the households continue to refuse to receive money and hand over the land, the district will coordinate with the investor to organize construction protection.
Ham Thuan Bac District People's Committee will implement steps to enforce land recovery in accordance with current procedures and hand over the site to the investor in August 2024.
In Phan Thiet city, there is still 328 square meters of land within the scope of M2 navigation station (previously located in the land fund on both sides of DT706B road).
Phan Thiet City People's Committee is completing related procedures to approve compensation and support plans.
Regarding the civil aviation category under the BOT contract, in March 2024, the People's Committee of Binh Thuan province submitted a document requesting the Ministry of Planning and Investment to appraise the adjustment of the investment policy and terminate the contract ahead of schedule for the civil aviation category.
Up to now, the Interdisciplinary Appraisal Council has had the appraisal results of the pre-feasibility study report to adjust the civil aviation project under the form of BOT contract.
Mr. Huynh Ngoc Thanh, Deputy Director of the Department of Transport of Binh Thuan province, said that the Provincial People's Committee has assigned the Department of Planning and Investment to preside over and coordinate with the Department of Transport and the consulting unit to review, explain, clarify and complete the project adjustment dossier based on the appraisal results of the Interdisciplinary Appraisal Council.
Currently, the Department of Planning and Investment has sent an official dispatch to collect opinions from relevant departments and branches to synthesize and advise the Provincial People's Committee to report and submit to the Prime Minister.
After the Prime Minister approves the adjustment of the investment policy, the Department of Transport will complete the investment procedures and organize the selection of investors to implement the construction and soon put into operation the civil component of Phan Thiet airport.
Phan Thiet Airport Project was approved by the Ministry of Transport on October 16, 2013 as a dual-use military and civil airport.
In January 2015, the Phan Thiet airport project was started by the People's Committee of Binh Thuan province with the scale of a level 3C dual-use airport, able to receive small aircraft such as ATR72, with a capacity of 1 million passengers/year.
During the project implementation process, the People's Committee of Binh Thuan province and the Ministry of National Defense proposed and received approval from the Prime Minister to upgrade the airport from level 4C to level 4E, extend the runway from 2,400m to 3,050m, and the passenger terminal has a designed capacity of 2 million passengers/year.
