Over the years, the Dong Trieu City Military Command has always been considered one of the leading units of the Provincial Military Command in logistics work, notably in terms of increased production (TGSX), contributing significantly to improving soldiers' lives, improving the quality of nutrition, ensuring combat readiness (SSCD) and building a strong and comprehensive unit.
Coming to the TGSX area in Trang An ward of the Dong Trieu City Military Command at any time of the year, we can witness the richness and freshness of the garden and trellis system here. Each season has its own food, the growing area always ensures a full range of green, clean foods to serve the soldiers' meals, such as: fruits, squash, pumpkins, green vegetables, tomatoes... Along with that is a large number of pigs, chickens, ducks raised in cages, farms surrounding the growing garden in a closed form. Professional military captain Do Van Son, a logistics staff, said: "After storm No. 3, the growing area of the unit was greatly affected. The entire orchard of fruit trees and vegetables was damaged. However, the unit's officers and soldiers quickly started to restore production, replant vegetables and trees. With our many years of experience in care, the growing area is full of life again."
In 2024, the unit's TGSX work achieved many positive results with a green vegetable output of 3,650 kg, pork of 1,153 kg, poultry of 1,910 kg, poultry eggs of 247 kg, fish of 920 kg and fresh fruit of 1,820 kg. The total profit from TGSX reached over 30 million VND. The above figures not only demonstrate the unit's initiative and creativity in ensuring a clean food source on the spot but also demonstrate the diligence and responsibility of the soldiers in implementing the movement "The Army Logistics Sector follows Uncle Ho's teachings".
Entering the first quarter of 2025, in the context of unfavorable weather conditions, complicated livestock and poultry diseases, and continuously fluctuating market prices, the City Military Command still strives to implement an effective production model in the Trang An TGSX and the agency. The unit planted 1,100 new pine trees and 300 flower-shaped trees at the Cao Don training ground, built two 300m² gourd trellises, released 1,000 fish fry, maintained a herd of 60 wild boars and more than 200 poultry. Thereby, food output continued to reach a high level of 1,180kg of green vegetables, 1,040kg of pork, 320kg of poultry, 1,340 eggs, 320kg of fish and 720kg of fresh fruit. All products are used directly to serve soldiers' meals and contribute to income sources to improve their lives.
The special feature of the TGSX model of the Dong Trieu City Military Command is the close combination between livestock and crop farming with the construction of a green - clean - beautiful unit landscape. Each production area is reasonably planned, ensuring hygiene, associated with improving the barracks environment, creating a spacious living and working space for soldiers. The development of TGSX is not simply to have more food, but also a solution to educate and train labor awareness, self-reliance and self-reliance for officers and soldiers.
Lieutenant Colonel Dang Huy Toan, Deputy Commander of the City Military Command, said: TGSX is not only a regular task in logistics work, but also an important part in building solidarity, training self-reliance and improving soldiers' lives. Every officer and soldier understands that taking care of each vegetable bed and each animal is directly contributing to building a strong and comprehensive unit. Besides TGSX activities, the unit's general logistics work is also implemented synchronously and effectively. The canteen and kitchen are scientifically managed, daily financial disclosure is implemented, and the rations and quality of meals are strictly controlled. The unit applies a scientific meal structure, implementing a buffet model of two main meals/day, ensuring that over 90% of the troops participate, contributing to improving health, maintaining the rate of healthy troops at over 98.9%. Activities of management, ensuring military uniforms, barracks, environmental sanitation and fuel saving are also carried out in accordance with regulations, effectively and transparently.
