In order to continue effectively implementing Directive 31/CT-TTg of the Prime Minister on strengthening traffic order and safety for school-age children, the Department of Construction of Ho Chi Minh City - the standing agency of the Traffic Safety Committee of Ho Chi Minh City has just issued a Plan to launch "Safe Month to School - September" for students of all levels in the 2025 - 2026 school year.

Accordingly, the goal of the plan is to promote propaganda and mobilize parents and students to strictly comply with traffic safety regulations: wear helmets when riding motorbikes and electric bicycles; do not drive side by side, do not run red lights, do not weave or swerve; parents do not hand over vehicles to unqualified drivers. At the same time, limit the situation of stopping and parking encroaching on the sidewalk causing congestion at the school gate, aiming for the model of "clean, beautiful and safe school gate".

The subjects of implementation are students and parents at all primary, secondary and high schools in Ho Chi Minh City.

Peak implementation time in September and throughout the 2025-2026 school year.

In September, schools will simultaneously organize the Launching Ceremony associated with the opening of the new school year. Many practical programs and models will be implemented, such as: "Giving helmets to first graders" sponsored by Honda Vietnam ; "Traffic safety school gate"; "Traffic safety park at Gia Dinh park "; "Educating students on legal knowledge and safe driving skills".

In parallel, traffic control volunteer teams will be deployed at school gates, coordinating with traffic police to limit congestion and ensure student safety. A visual propaganda system using banners and slogans will be deployed simultaneously in front of schools with the familiar message: "Safety at school is the path to the future", "Wearing helmets for children, full parental love".

The Office of the Ho Chi Minh City Traffic Safety Committee was assigned to coordinate with units to implement the plan, compile propaganda materials, install signs and evaluate the effectiveness of implemented models.

The Department of Education and Training coordinated to review and renovate traffic infrastructure in front of school gates, and organized traffic safety commitment signing with parents, students, and teachers.

Ho Chi Minh City police have increased patrols and strictly handled common violations among school-age children such as not wearing helmets, gathering on the street, and driving underage.

In addition, the Department of Culture and Sports of Ho Chi Minh City will promote communication in newspapers and television; the Department of Science and Technology of Ho Chi Minh City is responsible for controlling and removing bad and toxic information on social networks that promotes racing and swerving.

Wards and communes proactively develop local plans, organize launching ceremonies, mobilize volunteer troops, and post propaganda information on grassroots media channels.

The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Construction affirmed that the launch of "Safety Month for School - September" aims to create a strong change in the awareness and actions of parents, students, teachers and the whole society about traffic culture.

Through this, Ho Chi Minh City aims to reduce traffic accidents involving students, build a safe and civilized school environment, and contribute to improving the quality of comprehensive education in the new school year.
