Ms. Nguyen Thi Binh is Honorary President of the Vietnam Peace and Development Council.

The Vietnam Peace and Development Foundation today held its 5th Congress for the 2025-2030 term.

The Vietnam Peace and Development Foundation was founded in 2003 by former Vice President Nguyen Thi Binh; it is a member organization of the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations .

At the Congress, the Fund agreed to change its name to the Vietnam Peace and Development Council, and at the same time change its operating method towards open membership, diverse topics and flexible approaches, in order to meet the requirements of tasks in the new period.

The Congress elected the Executive Committee for the 5th term, consisting of 35 members, with 12 new members added. The Executive Committee elected 12 members to the Standing Committee of the Council.

Mr. Ha Hung Cuong is Chairman of the Vietnam Peace and Development Council for the 2025-2030 term.

The Congress also honored former Vice President Nguyen Thi Binh as Honorary President of the Council for the 2025-2030 term, and supported the awarding of the title of Labor Hero to Ms. Nguyen Thi Binh.

In his congratulatory speech at the Congress, Deputy Prime Minister Le Thanh Long said that as a member organization of the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations, the Vietnam Peace and Development Fund was established with the mission of gathering and promoting the intelligence and enthusiasm of those who voluntarily participate in contributing to people's foreign affairs for the cause of peace and national development.

Under the enthusiastic leadership of the Fund's leaders over the years, typically former Vice President Nguyen Thi Binh, many practical and in-depth activities have been effectively implemented in all three areas: Promoting bilateral and multilateral partnerships, policy research and consulting, and foreign information.

The Deputy Prime Minister said that in the new era of development, especially the fourth industrial revolution which has a profound impact on all aspects of social life, we have opportunities and advantages but also face many difficulties and challenges.

In that context, in addition to promoting the strength of great national unity of Vietnam, the sympathy, support, solidarity, assistance and cooperation of international friends, partners and people of countries around the world are very important, contributing to the cause of rapid and sustainable development of the country.

Accordingly, with the increasingly high requirements in the coming period, we welcome the renaming of the Fund at this Congress to the Vietnam Peace and Development Council, and at the same time, the Council's method of operation is transformed towards openness in terms of participants, diversity in topics and flexibility in approach, in order to meet the requirements of tasks in the new period.

Regarding direction, Deputy Prime Minister Le Thanh Long noted that the Council needs to continue to thoroughly grasp and effectively implement the guidelines, policies, laws of the Party and State; closely follow the principles and goals, constantly expand and improve the effectiveness of people-to-people diplomacy activities. The Council needs to increase participation in multilateral forums, promote global initiatives on peace, security, sustainable development, social justice, etc.

In addition, the Council needs to expand its network of connections with international peace and development organizations, enlist the help of prestigious and influential individuals and figures at home and abroad, and international friends...
