In the past, when mentioning Yen Bai, people often thought of narrow, winding roads through rugged mountains. Poor infrastructure used to be a major barrier to trading goods, attracting investment and developing tourism. However, with the attention and investment of the Central Government and the efforts of the province, especially the new rural development program, the inter-district, inter-commune and rural transportation systems have been comprehensively improved.
From 2006 to present, many key traffic works have been invested in connecting into a complete traffic system, contributing significantly to the socio-economic development, ensuring national defense and security of the province.
Along with the national highways, the investment in building 5 more bridges across the Red River: Trai Hut Bridge, Bach Lam Bridge, Tuan Quan Bridge, Co Phuc Bridge and Gioi Phien Bridge not only satisfies the people's wishes but also carries the expectations of localities with the goal of connecting and creating momentum for socio-economic development.
Up to now, thousands of kilometers of rural roads have been newly opened, asphalted, and concreted in the province, changing the face of rural areas in the province, contributing to the completion and improvement of the rural road system, helping people travel conveniently and safely, promoting socio-economic development of localities, especially in remote communes, remote areas, and ethnic minority areas.
Returning to the highland commune of Nam Bung, Van Chan district these days, we cannot help but be surprised by the changes in the appearance of the countryside here. The most obvious change is the change in rural traffic routes. The images of trails and muddy dirt roads no longer exist, instead, there are concrete roads stretching to the end of the village.
Mr. Dang Ngoc Toan - Secretary of the Party Committee of Nam Bung commune shared: "Traffic is the lifeline, an important driving force to promote economic development. Therefore, the commune focuses on prioritizing State investment resources, promoting socialization to mobilize more resources to complete the rural traffic system. Thanks to that, up to now, the rate of inter-commune and inter-village roads that are concreted and asphalted has reached 100%, and the concreted village branch roads have reached over 90%". Completed traffic creates momentum for the locality to develop a tea production area planning of over 400 hectares, over 80 hectares of macadamia trees interspersed with tea, and a forestry area of over 1,000 hectares.
To complete the traffic system, in 2024, Yen Bai Provincial People's Committee allocated 129.7 billion VND and the Ministry of Transport (now the Ministry of Construction) allocated 157 billion VND to repair and renovate roadbeds, road surfaces, and drainage works; repair and replace weak bridges; invest in, replace, and supplement the traffic safety system.
In 2024, the province will also focus on mobilizing resources to implement the Rural Transport Development Project of Yen Bai province for the period 2021 - 2025 in conjunction with 3 national target programs; continue to mobilize and integrate capital sources and internal resources among the people for implementation. By the end of 2024, the whole province will have solidified about 437/400 km of rural roads, exceeding the set targets and plans.
In the period of 2021 - 2025, the Provincial People's Committee has decided to invest in 26 key projects and works, with a total investment of about 12,977 billion VND. In fact, the completed traffic infrastructure has attracted many large investors to industrial parks and clusters such as: Southern Industrial Park of Yen Bai City, Au Lau Industrial Park, Minh Quan Industrial Cluster...
Mr. Doan Huu Phung - Director of the Provincial Department of Construction said: "Currently, Yen Bai continues to focus on investing in key transport projects such as the route connecting Noi Bai - Lao Cai Expressway with Tran Yen district, expanding National Highway 32C, building large bridges across the Red River and Chay River. The province also focuses on developing rural transport, ensuring synchronous connections from urban to rural areas, from lowland to highland areas. In addition, the province aims to develop green, environmentally friendly transport, linking transport with urban planning and nature conservation. The goal is to build Yen Bai into a fairly developed province in the Northern midland and mountainous region by 2025 with a modern and synchronous transport infrastructure system to unleash the potential of the province's economic regions".
Transportation is not only a means of transportation but also an important driving force for comprehensive development in Yen Bai. From agriculture, industry to tourism, all sectors are being strongly stimulated thanks to open roads. With the determination to invest synchronously and systematically, Yen Bai is gradually "awakening" its great potential, towards a sustainable and prosperous future.
Up to now, a number of important traffic projects and works have been invested in and completed, put into operation, contributing to promoting the socio-economic development of the province such as: the road connecting National Highway 37, National Highway 32C with Noi Bai - Lao Cai Expressway; Van Chan - Yen Lap road (Phu Tho); Son Luong - Nam Muoi - Sung Do road, Van Chan district; To Mau bridge, Luc Yen district... |
