Previously, at 10 p.m. on August 5, Van Don Special Zone Medical Center received an urgent report from Thang Loi Commune Health Station about a 29-year-old pregnant woman, pregnant for the first time, 37 weeks and 2 days pregnant, going into labor, severe abdominal pain, suspected abnormal fetal position, high risk of difficult labor, unable to give birth normally at the commune level.

Immediately after receiving the information, Van Don Special Zone Medical Center arranged specialized rescue boats, coordinated with functional departments to fully prepare emergency equipment outside the hospital to ensure safety, and was ready to cross the sea to the island to pick up patients in dangerous weather conditions.

In the middle of a stormy night, transporting the pregnant woman to the mainland was a big challenge, but in the face of the critical situation, the emergency team decided to take the pregnant woman back to the Center by boat, while performing emergency interventions along the way such as intravenous fluids and closely monitoring the mother and fetus' condition.

At exactly 1:30 a.m. on August 6, the mother was safely taken to the Medical Center. That same night, an emergency cesarean section was performed successfully. A baby girl weighing 2.4 kg was born. Currently, the health of both mother and baby is stable, and they are being monitored and given postnatal care at the Center./.
