Mold manufacturing technology is a particularly important manufacturing industry, considered the foundation of modern industry, with the ability to create large quantities of products in a short time and with high stability. However, to meet the requirements of self-sufficiency in mold manufacturing technology, Vietnamese enterprises need to make efforts to invest in technology, production scale, human resources, etc.
Invest in mastering mold manufacturing technology
In 2016, THACO INDUSTRIES put into operation the Mold Manufacturing Factory, serving THACO's large-scale production activities and meeting the practical needs of the market. In 2022, the factory was expanded with a total investment of 36 million USD, an area of 4,400 m2, a capacity of 1,000 mold sets and 2,000 tons of precision mechanics/year.
Mold manufacturing is a highly automated industry, requiring complex techniques and high precision, therefore, THACO INDUSTRIES pays special attention to research and mastering technology. The Group has invested in synchronous stages: Creating blanks, deep hole drilling, CNC milling, EDM electric discharge machining, wire cutting, CMM measurement, mold inspection, with modern equipment and machinery such as: The first 5-axis Japanese technology bed milling machine in Vietnam, mold inspection press with maximum pressure up to 200 tons, 2-head electric discharge machine that can process on the same or two different molds... In particular, the processing stage on CNC (Computer Numerical Control) machines is fully automated with numerical control, ensuring the requirements of accuracy, aesthetics, saving labor and production time.
THACO INDUSTRIES produces a variety of molds such as: Plastic molds, stamping molds, blow molds, extrusion molds, SMC molds, serving many fields: Automotive, industry, agriculture, civil... in which, medium and large sized plastic molds are considered a strength, because most mold manufacturing units in Vietnam are limited in scale, technology, equipment, so they only process small sized products.
Currently, the demand for molds in the fields of automobiles, motorbikes, refrigeration, etc. is increasing. With a team of experts and engineers trained in Korea and modern simulation and calculation software (NX, Moldow, Hyperform, etc.), THACO INDUSTRIES is capable of designing and developing products quickly, meeting the technological content and strict requirements of customers. The Group has produced large, complex molds with high aesthetic requirements such as: 27-ton truck bumper molds, passenger car rear bumper molds using Hiddenline technology, luggage compartment molds and molds for passenger car interior products using 3D pattern etching technology, molds for manufacturing sunroof frame details for passenger cars.
THACO INDUSTRIES is currently a prestigious mold manufacturing and supplying brand for many partners in the domestic market such as: Mazda, Kia, QCM, Doosan, Makitech, Huu Toan, THACO BUS, LIXIL... and exporting to the US, Canada, Korea...
Increasing role in supply chain
In order to contribute to increasing the localization rate and enhancing the competitiveness of the mold manufacturing industry, THACO INDUSTRIES promotes R&D activities and researches new mold manufacturing techniques. The company is researching and analyzing the flow simulation in plastic molds and plastic deformation of metals in large plate stamping molds to produce molds for passenger car bumpers and car bodies. These are large, complex molds with high commercial value. At the same time, the production of these molds will be the premise for the development of the mold manufacturing industry in the automobile industry.
THACO INDUSTRIES is also developing molds: Aluminum pressure casting molds, PU foam molds, heat press molds... to supply domestic customers and export to the US, Europe, Korea...
Mastering mold manufacturing technology helps THACO INDUSTRIES be proactive in production and business, completing the value chain according to the All-in-one model (providing a complete solution from product research and development to processing, manufacturing, production, assembly, operation transfer and maintenance), contributing to increasing competitiveness when participating in the global supply chain.
