At the opening ceremony of “Vietnam Water Week 2025” with the theme “Vietnam Water Industry in the New Era: Challenges and Opportunities” on the morning of August 20, according to Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Diep, Chairman of the Vietnam Water Supply and Sewerage Association, the Vietnam Water Industry enters 2025 with many expectations but at the same time faces many challenges in terms of increasingly severe climate change, rapid urbanization, declining water resources, a lack of synchronization in the infrastructure system, and new requirements on service quality and environmental protection.
In the context of the country's many changes, according to Mr. Diep, the Water sector is facing many opportunities mixed with challenges because after merging administrative units, the scale of water supply and drainage in urban areas has been expanded; rapid urbanization and modernization have created an increasing demand for water supply.
Therefore, the Water sector needs specific and appropriate solutions and mechanisms to invest in building an effective and sustainable drainage system, especially when climate change with extreme weather events such as rising sea levels, drought, saltwater intrusion and other issues, etc. become significant obstacles in ensuring water security and safety.
Mr. Diep said that the water sector, with its essential role in urban, rural, health , production and environmental development, is one of the areas that needs rapid, strong and substantial innovation. In particular, the theme of this year's event "Vietnam's water sector in the new era: Challenges and opportunities" clearly demonstrated the strategic vision and determination to act of the entire sector.
The highlight of this event is the panorama of the Vietnamese Water industry with strong changes to meet the requirements of socio -economic development and climate change adaptation. Many digital solutions and advanced technologies will be introduced and demonstrated at 200 exhibition booths, creating opportunities for exchange, promoting cooperation, technology transfer, and trade promotion between businesses.
In addition, “Vietnam Water Week 2025” focuses on 4 thematic seminars on policies; advanced and efficient water supply and drainage technology; gender equality in the water industry and an open technical seminar - where equipment manufacturing companies introduce the latest equipment and technology.../.
