Increase flood discharge of Song Luy reservoir on the evening of August 21 to protect the reservoir

The unit requested the People's Committees of the communes: Phan Son, Song Luy, Luong Son, Hong Thai, Bac Binh, Phan Ri Cua to notify the people along the Luy River and the river mouth area, proactively have plans to prevent safety and reduce damage.

It is known that at 9:00 a.m. on August 21, the water level of Song Luy reservoir was at +128.10m and was continuing to increase rapidly with the flow to the reservoir reaching 77m3/s. The reason is that the upstream area of ​​Song Luy reservoir had rain from the night of August 20 to the morning of August 21, combined with the amount of water running the Dai Ninh Hydropower Plant.

To continue maintaining the reservoir's flood prevention capacity, ensuring the safety of the project, and reducing flooding in the downstream area when heavy rain occurs, the Company will increase the flow through the spillway of Song Luy reservoir to 40-80m3/s at 8:00 p.m. on August 21. After that, depending on the amount of water reaching the reservoir, the Company will increase the regulated flow to no more than 200m3/s.

It is known that since the beginning of the rainy season, Binh Thuan Irrigation Works Exploitation Company Limited has implemented the operation of buffer water drainage through the spillway of Song Luy reservoir. The purpose is to increase the flood prevention capacity of the reservoir and has notified the locality, relevant agencies and units, with the regulated flow ranging from 20 - 40m3/s, maximum not exceeding 150m3/s depending on the amount of water coming to the reservoir.
