In Hanoi, Mr. Nguyen Binh Dan (residing in residential group 3, Bach Dang ward, Hai Ba Trung district) and his wife woke up very early to watch the grand ceremony. Although 50 years have passed, he still remembers clearly the historic moment of the country's reunification on April 30, 1975. At that time, he participated in the battle in Division 10, Regiment 234 to attack Bay Hien Intersection and Tan Son Nhat Airport.

“When there was no more gunfire on the front, my comrades exclaimed: We won, we won! Everyone burst into tears,” Mr. Nguyen Binh Dan emotionally recalled.

This year, 76 years old, with 50 years of Party membership, having held many different positions, Mr. Dan still cannot forget the emotions at that time. Today, witnessing the parade to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the complete liberation of the South and the reunification of the country, he was truly moved.

"Each image that appeared on the TV screen seemed to take me back in time, back to the heroic and glorious years of the nation, making my heart swell with pride. The majestic sound of the marching song, the synchronized footsteps of the forces made my heart beat faster with emotion.

I was moved when I saw the white-haired veterans still standing tall, walking with the young generation today. They are living witnesses to a heroic period of history. 50 years have passed, the country has changed every day, but the memory of Liberation Day is still deeply engraved in the hearts of every citizen. Today's ceremony is not only an important political - historical - social event but also an opportunity for every Vietnamese citizen to look back on the past with deep gratitude and look to the future with faith and hope", Mr. Au Xuan Kien shared.

For Mr. Nguyen Dang Hung, Veteran, Secretary of the Party Cell of Residential Group No. 6, Buoi Ward, Tay Ho District, this morning - the 50th anniversary of the two regions' reunion - is also a very special milestone.

"I was in the army from 1973 to 1977. These days, I miss my comrades even more when we fought side by side in Company 1, Battalion 1, Signal Regiment 140, Corps 1, marching at lightning speed from North to South in 1975.

Honored and proud to participate in the Ho Chi Minh Campaign, I still remember when marching to Tam Ky (Quang Nam), we heard General Vo Nguyen Giap's order to the units: "Faster, faster - Bold, bolder". All together quickly marched into Saigon, becoming one of the honored units present in the first days of liberation.

The more I remember my comrades and am grateful to the heroic martyrs who sacrificed for the independence and freedom of the Fatherland, the more I am aware of my responsibility to promote the qualities of Uncle Ho's soldiers in peacetime, contributing to the strong development of the country.

As a young party member, Ms. Luong Thi Thanh, a third-year student majoring in Finance and Banking at the National Economics University (Hanoi) is extremely proud of the glorious historical journey that our nation has gone through.

“Although we did not directly experience the years of bombs and bullets, through historical lessons and the emotional stories of our grandparents and parents, we deeply understand that today’s peace, independence and unity were paid for with blood and with the immeasurable sacrifices of previous generations. We will constantly learn, practice and promote our creativity to contribute to the common development, continuing to write glorious pages of the country’s history in the new period,” said Ms. Luong Thi Thanh.

I, my family, friends and colleagues feel moved, proud and strongly believe in the development of the country. Our young generation understands that the historic victory of April 30, 1975, the unification of the country, is the result of many generations of our ancestors who devoted their youth, blood and bones. I will never forget the sacrifices of our ancestors, so that we, we, can enjoy a full life in peace.

Therefore, the responsibility of the young generation towards the country and homeland is not only an obligation, but also an honor and pride. I and the members of the Youth Union and the youth of the ward always remind ourselves: The country and homeland can only develop strongly when each individual in the community works together and contributes. I myself also constantly improve my knowledge, practice life skills, work skills, and contribute to building my hometown and country.
