North Korean leader Kim Jong-un has ordered the country's military, munitions industry and nuclear weapons sector to speed up war preparations to counter what he called unprecedented confrontational moves by the United States, state media said on December 28.
According to the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA), speaking about the policy direction for the new year at an important meeting of the ruling Workers' Party on December 27, North Korean leader Kim Jong-un said that the security situation on the Korean peninsula has become extremely dangerous.
According to Yonhap, the Workers' Party of Korea opened its year-end meeting on December 26 to review state policies for 2024.
North Korea put a military spy satellite into orbit in November, after two previous failures in May and August. The North Korean leader said the launch of a solid-fuel intercontinental ballistic missile on December 18 demonstrated the country's will to launch a nuclear attack without hesitation in case of nuclear provocations by its enemies.
