The 2024 Summer Youth Volunteer Campaign is organized to promote the spirit of volunteerism of union members and young people in participating in socio-economic development, solving issues of public concern; building new rural areas, civilized urban areas; ensuring social security, national defense, and security, especially in difficult areas, remote areas, border areas, islands, ethnic and religious areas.
The 2024 Summer Youth Volunteer Campaign is organized widely, effectively, safely, and sustainably, in line with the political tasks and practical needs of each locality and unit, creating a positive social mark. Volunteer activities are carefully prepared in terms of both content and organization methods, promoting expertise in the fields of expertise and strengths of youth groups. Focus on organizing on-site volunteer activities, connecting self-established volunteer organizations, attracting a large number of union members, youth and social forces to participate.

Speaking at the ceremony, Standing Secretary of the Central Youth Union, President of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Youth Union Nguyen Ngoc Luong said that the 2024 Summer Youth Volunteer Campaign will continue to be implemented according to youth groups with 1 program and 4 campaigns. The campaign will peak from June 1 to August 31, 2024, with the motto of being widespread, effective, safe, and sustainable, associated with the political tasks and practical needs of each locality and unit.
The new point of this year's launching ceremony is that the central bridge in Hai Phong is connected online with 3 bridges in Tuyen Quang, Dak Lak and Hau Giang. Specific and practical response activities also take place simultaneously in 3 villages, hamlets and hamlets supported by the Central Youth Union to build the model of "Worth living village" according to the criteria of advanced new rural areas and model new rural areas.

Delegates, cadres, union members and young people participated in carrying out projects and tasks according to 7 key content routes: "Volunteering to participate in building new rural areas", "Volunteering to participate in building civilized urban areas and responding to Workers' Month", "Volunteering for social security, repaying gratitude", "Volunteering to take care of children", "Volunteering to protect the environment, respond to climate change", "Volunteering to support ethnic minorities", "Volunteering for the homeland's sea and islands".

The total value of resources for the Launching Ceremony of the 2024 Central-level Summer Youth Volunteer Campaign reached more than 25.5 billion VND.
Previously, the Central Youth Union Secretariat directed three Central working delegations and volunteer teams to carry out the "Youth Journey for the Homeland's Sea and Islands" on Bach Long Vi Island; and to carry out activities to support the construction of new rural areas in disadvantaged villages and hamlets in Dong Thap and Thanh Hoa provinces.

11 targets identified in the 2024 Summer Youth Volunteer Campaign
1. Organize 10 million youth union members to participate in volunteer activities implemented by the Youth Union and Association.
2. Build at least 500 new civilized streets (roads, alleys) with the criteria "Bright - Green - Clean - Beautiful - Civilized - Safe".
3. Build at least 1,000 new charity houses, gratitude houses, red scarf houses, and boarding houses.
4. Plant at least 8,000,000 new trees.
5. Repair at least 3,000km and rebuild at least 600km of rural roads.
6. Support the implementation and realization of 25,000 ideas and initiatives of union members and youth.
7. Support digital capacity building for at least 6,000,000 youth and people.
8. Provide training on startup knowledge for at least 200,000 young people; support 700 creative startup projects of young people.
9. Provide career and employment counseling to at least 1,000,000 union members and young people; introduce jobs to at least 200,000 young people.
10. Organize 1,000,000 youth to participate in activities to support foreign language proficiency improvement and international integration.
11. Support at least 500,000 children in difficult circumstances.
