Speaking at the exhibition, Deputy Director of the Thang Long – Hanoi Heritage Center Nguyen Hong Chi said that the victory of the August Revolution in 1945 was a brilliant milestone in the history of the nation, opening a new era – the era of national independence associated with socialism. In that glorious history, the land and people of Co Loa - Dong Anh have made great contributions, accompanying the nation in revolutionary movements, building and defending the Fatherland.

Co Loa - the capital of the Au Lac State during the reign of An Duong Vuong, is a symbol of the intelligence, bravery and creativity of our ancestors in the early days of nation building. Throughout historical periods, especially during the two resistance wars against French colonialism and American imperialism, the army and people of Co Loa have promoted the tradition of patriotism, solidarity, and steadfast fighting, contributing much effort and blood to the cause of national liberation and national unification.

Not only was it an ancient political and military center, Co Loa was also a place where unique values of architecture, military technology, and Vietnamese culture converged. During the revolutionary period, Co Loa and some neighboring areas were one of the ATKs (safe zones) of the Central Committee of the Indochinese Communist Party during the secret period of 1941 - 1945. The Party Committee and people of Co Loa always believed in following the Party, were loyal to the revolution, devotedly nurtured and protected the Central Committee's cadres and agencies, fought bravely and steadfastly against imperialism and feudalism, and contributed worthily to the victory of the August Revolution in 1945, the resistance war against the US to save the country, and the cause of building and defending the Fatherland.
