The relationship between Vietnam and Cuba has been increasingly strengthened and become more special thanks to the great contributions of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong. He has left an indelible mark in the hearts of the Cuban people. "Upon hearing the news of the General Secretary's passing, our leaders quickly sent condolences. The Cuban Embassy also flew the flag at half-mast today. In the next 48 hours, all over Cuba will officially mourn and observe a state funeral. We are all very saddened by the news of the General Secretary's passing. In the near future, a delegation of high-ranking Cuban officials will come to Vietnam to directly share the grief and loss with our Vietnamese brothers and sisters at the General Secretary's state funeral," the Deputy Ambassador shared. Upon hearing the news of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong's passing, First Secretary of the Communist Party and President of Cuba Miguel Díaz-Canel decided to hold official mourning from 6:00 a.m. on July 20 to 12:00 a.m. on July 21 and national mourning from 6:00 a.m. to 12:00 a.m. on July 22. On July 19 (local time), the Cuban National Assembly also observed a minute of silence for General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong. President of the Cuban National Assembly Esteban Lazo highlighted General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong's friendship with Cuba. Cuban media affirmed that General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong was one of the enthusiastic people who promoted the special brotherly relationship and mutual trust between Cuba and Vietnam.
