National Economics University will invest in building a second branch in Ha Nam.

On March 25, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the People's Committee of Ha Nam province, Truong Quoc Huy, worked with a delegation from the National Economics University on research and survey to build the school's second branch at Nam Cao University Area.

According to Mr. Truong Quoc Huy, with its favorable location and attractive mechanisms and policies, Nam Cao University has all the standards to develop into a center for training high-quality human resources, contributing effectively to the cause of national innovation from now until 2050.

Ha Nam province has just started the investment project to build and complete the infrastructure planning in Nam Cao University Area with a total investment of 993 billion VND.

In the immediate future, the province will accompany and support the National Economics University in terms of procedures, premises, design consultancy, planning, etc. to build a second branch in Ha Nam.

In addition, the province also invested in building social housing near the school for teachers to rent or buy. In particular, students studying in Nam Cao University will have the opportunity to do internships right in the industrial parks in the area.

At the conference, Prof. Dr. Pham Hong Chuong, director of the National Economics University, said that the school will urgently carry out the necessary procedures to invest in building a second branch at Nam Cao University Area.

Ministry of Health warns of food safety risks when eating 'dirty skewers'

The Food Safety Department, Ministry of Health warns that street food, especially stalls selling grilled skewers (meat, fish, seafood, vegetables on skewers) - also known as "dirty skewers" - pose many potential risks to food hygiene and safety, posing a danger to health.

This is a familiar and attractive street food for many people, especially young people. However, besides clean and hygienic eateries, the situation of selling "dirty" grilled skewers, unhygienic, using ingredients of unknown origin is common in many areas, from sidewalks to school gates, night markets...

According to the Food Safety Department, "dirty" grilled skewers often use ingredients of unknown origin, spoiled or spoiled meat or low-quality frozen food; marinate with additives, colorants, and cheap spices to cover up the rancid smell or increase artificial richness; use cooking oil that is fried over and over again, creating substances harmful to health.

Products processed and sold in dusty, uncovered, near-street, unsanitary places; not complying with food safety regulations.

Consuming unhygienic food, especially grilled "dirty skewers", can cause many serious health risks such as food poisoning: causing abdominal pain, diarrhea, acute vomiting, intestinal infections from bacteria such as E.coli, Salmonella, staphylococcus... leading to prolonged digestive disorders.

Long-term accumulation of toxins from repeated frying oil can easily create carcinogens; parasitic infections if meat is not cooked thoroughly or ingredients come from infected animals.

Chairman of Viet Duc Steel Pipe resigns

Viet Duc Steel Pipe Joint Stock Company VG PIPE (VGS) said it has just received the resignation letter of Mr. Le Minh Hai - Chairman of the Board of Directors.

According to the company representative, Mr. Le Minh Hai's resignation will take effect from the time it is approved by the shareholders' meeting. The VGS shareholders' meeting is expected to take place on April 5 in Vinh Phuc.

In his resignation letter, Mr. Hai (born in 1964) said he was resigning because he wanted to spend time researching and developing new projects. Before resigning, Mr. Hai also transferred nearly 8.35 million VGS shares to his wife, Ms. Nguyen Thi Thanh Thuy.

VGS is one of the largest manufacturers and suppliers of steel products in Vietnam. In 2024, the company recorded revenue of more than VND 7,321 billion, down 3% compared to the previous year, but net profit reached nearly VND 110 billion, nearly doubling.

In addition to the steel sector, this enterprise has also entered the real estate sector with a number of projects in Vinh Phuc.

Ho Chi Minh City: Hand, foot and mouth disease increased by more than 84%

On the afternoon of March 25, the Ho Chi Minh City Center for Disease Control (HCDC) reported that from March 17 to 23 (week 12), Ho Chi Minh City recorded 348 cases of hand, foot and mouth disease, an increase of 84.4% compared to the average of the previous 4 weeks.

The total number of hand, foot and mouth disease cases accumulated from the beginning of 2025 to week 12 is 1,917 cases. Districts with high number of cases per 100,000 people include Binh Tan district, district 8 and district 6.

Also this week, Ho Chi Minh City recorded 369 cases of dengue fever, down 2.9% compared to the average of the previous 4 weeks. The total number of dengue fever cases accumulated from the beginning of 2025 to week 12 is 5,356 cases.

Districts with high number of cases per 100,000 people include Can Gio district, Thu Duc city and district 7.

In week 12, Ho Chi Minh City recorded 227 measles cases with addresses in the city, down 21.6% compared to the average of the previous 4 weeks. The total number of measles cases accumulated from the beginning of the epidemic to week 12 is 8,087 cases. Districts with high number of cases up to week 12 include Binh Chanh district, Binh Tan district and Thu Duc city.

HCDC advises parents to take their children to medical facilities to get two measles shots according to the vaccination schedule to create immunity for children.
