Spreading digital transformation awareness

DNVN - On August 1, the School of Economics, Law and Public Administration (CELG) - Ho Chi Minh City University of Economics (UEH) opened the ELG 2025 International Conference with the theme: "Resilience, Sustainable Development and Digital Transformation in a Changing World: Perspectives from Southeast Asia".

The ELG 2025 International Conference is an annual academic forum, connecting researchers, scholars, experts and policy makers at home and abroad to exchange research results, ideas and interdisciplinary initiatives.

With 190 papers submitted from many countries, the Organizing Committee selected 130 papers for presentation in 32 parallel discussion sessions taking place on August 1 and 2. The discussion sessions focused on global topics, creating opportunities to expand professional knowledge, share academic values ​​and build long-term international cooperation networks. The conference especially emphasized the role of digital transformation in sustainable development and enhancing community resilience.

Professor, Dr. Su Dinh Thanh - Director of Ho Chi Minh City University of Economics spoke at the opening ceremony of the conference.

In his opening speech, Professor, Dr. Su Dinh Thanh - Director of UEH commented that this year's theme is both timely and important.

“We are living in a world that is changing faster than ever before, facing many challenges such as climate change and rapid digital transformation. These issues affect not only Southeast Asia but also the whole world. The event is a place to gather researchers, lecturers and policy makers from many countries to share, learn and find solutions to create positive changes for the economy and society,” he emphasized.

At the workshop, Professor Pamela Jagger (University of Michigan, USA) proposed building a reliable data system and local governance capacity to improve disaster response capabilities, especially in developing countries. Professor Carlos Chávez (University of Talca, Chile) emphasized the role of law and technology in protecting common resources, while Professor Jeannie Marie Paterson (University of Melbourne) focused on the importance of transparency and legal responsibility in digital transformation.

The workshop also discussed post-crisis economic recovery, public finance, economic behavior, institutional capacity and data analysis tools for policy making.

ELG 2025 continues to affirm its role as a bridge between academia and policy practice, contributing to the sustainable development of Southeast Asia in a volatile global context.
