South Korean and US fighter jets participate in a joint training exercise.
After Pyongyang launched an intercontinental ballistic missile, which the US, South Korea and Japan could not deny as a great success of North Korea, the three countries quickly decided to conduct a joint air exercise in the Northeast Asia region. This is the second joint air exercise of the three countries this year and the fourth time this year that the US has deployed B-1B strategic bombers on the Korean Peninsula. Almost immediately after that, the North Korean side published a kind of white paper on the new moves of the opponent.
With a clear message and strong language, this white paper seems to be aimed at South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol personally. In it, Pyongyang claims that Mr. Yoon's policies have pushed South Korea to the risk of nuclear war. Pyongyang criticizes Mr. Yoon for unilaterally canceling many cooperation contents agreed between the two countries, preparing with the US to wage nuclear war against North Korea, strengthening alliances and military ties with Japan and NATO.
It can be seen that the confrontation between North Korea and the United States, Japan and South Korea continues to escalate in intensity. North Korea has recently taken both new and not-so-new steps to deal with security threats and challenges from the military alliance of the United States, Japan and South Korea, to create a new political and security situation in the Northeast Asia region, and at the same time influence the developments and outcomes of the presidential election in the United States. The other three countries continue to act as a shield against North Korea to prevent North Korea and Russia from promoting a military and defense alliance, and to prevent Pyongyang from pursuing its missile and nuclear programs. This rivalry has not stopped at its current level.
