On December 28, at the Presidential Palace, Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan met and awarded the Labor Medal to students who won prizes at the 2024 International Science and Technology Olympiads.

Reporting at the meeting, Deputy Minister of Education and Training Nguyen Thi Kim Chi said that in 2024, under the leadership of the Party, the attention of the Government and the direct direction of the Ministry of Education and Training, Vietnamese education has achieved many important achievements.

Success at the 2024 international and regional Olympic competitions is the clearest evidence, affirming Vietnam's position in the region and the world. It can be said that the excellent achievements in 2024 are proof of the remarkable progress in key education in particular and general education in general.

In 2024, Vietnam had eight delegations participating in international and regional Olympic competitions, with a total of 38 students participating, with achievements of 12 Gold Medals, 15 Silver Medals, 10 Bronze Medals and one Certificate of Merit. Compared to 2023, the number of Gold Medals increased by four, Silver Medals increased by three, affirming the strong rise in the quality of key education.

To achieve the above results, the Deputy Minister of Education and Training emphasized that, in addition to the talents of the students, it can be seen that today's achievements are the convergence of many factors. Especially the correct leadership and strategic vision of the Party and State, with policies to encourage learning, encourage talents, and strongly invest in key education in particular and mass education in general.

The Ministry of Education and Training has effectively advised the Government, has given appropriate and unified direction nationwide with policies to promote the strength of the entire sector. Praising and congratulating the outstanding achievements of the education and training sector, teachers and students in 2024, Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan emphasized that studiousness is a very fine tradition of the nation, nurtured from generation to generation, thereby contributing to the formation of a thousand-year-old civilized Vietnam.

In each revolutionary stage, our Party and State always pay attention to the development of the Education and Training sector; perfecting institutions, guidelines and policies to build the country's human resources.

Emphasizing the outstanding results achieved at the 2024 International Science and Technology Olympiad, the Vice President stated that the results achieved demonstrate the continuous efforts of the students, the hard work and dedication of the teaching staff as well as the care and concern of parents and families for their children.

It is also the support of organizations and individuals in society; the correct orientations, methods of selection, training, and competition organization for students of the education sector are increasingly effective, closer to practical requirements. The results achieved are not only the crystallization of the tradition of studiousness of the Vietnamese people but also a very important foundation for building a high-quality human resource team, realizing the policies of the Party and State in the coming time.

Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan suggested that the education and training sector continue to have specific, practical plans, roadmaps, and solutions to implement the general policies of the Party and State. At the same time, the entire sector continues to carry out the cause of fundamental and comprehensive innovation in education and training, close to reality, suitable to the country's development needs, and keeping up with the trend of the times.

The Vice President hopes that each future owner of the country will be a good citizen, a pioneer in learning, and an effective learner. They will continue to be confident, have a plan to conquer knowledge and science, set future goals to make positive contributions to the country and society, thereby having the motivation to strive, and more effective learning and training methods.

In addition, each teacher continues to keep the fire burning, pass it on to generations of students; nurture in them a passion for learning, scientific research, and conquering the peak. At the same time, actively update and innovate teaching content and methods to not only train students to achieve high scores but also become people with the capacity and qualities of an excellent citizen.
