On the morning of February 15, the Standing Committee of Nghe An Provincial Party Committee met to listen to information reflecting public opinion and the press; the results of organizing the Lunar New Year 2024 in the province.

HAPPY, SAFE, AND EXCITING TET HOLIDAY

Assessment shows that during Tet holidays, the weather in the province is favorable, creating conditions for people to enjoy Spring and celebrate Tet.

The preparation of goods for Tet is thorough, ensuring quality and stable prices, meeting the people's need for essential goods.

All levels and sectors have paid attention to and taken care of people's spiritual and material lives, ensuring that people can enjoy Spring and Tet; well implemented policies for people with meritorious services, social protection, ensuring social security; cared for policy beneficiaries and people in difficult circumstances, ensuring the right subjects and regimes according to regulations.

As of February 12, 2024, in the province, there were 288,707 people with revolutionary contributions, social protection, the elderly, children in difficult circumstances, poor households... receiving gifts at all levels with a total implementation cost of nearly 219 billion VND.

All levels and sectors have synchronously deployed many measures to ensure security and order in the area during the 2024 Lunar New Year, avoiding sudden and unexpected incidents; no serious or especially serious incidents occurred. Compared to the 2023 Lunar New Year, social order crimes decreased by 1 case; drug crimes decreased by 1 case; economic and environmental crimes decreased by 12 cases; traffic accidents decreased by 2 injured people.

This year's Lunar New Year, public opinion and people have acknowledged, agreed with, and highly supported the authorities' drastic action to crack down on crime; especially strictly controlling alcohol levels for traffic participants. This is a very good premise to continue to maintain not only during the holidays but also to become a culture among the people. Food hygiene and safety is ensured, and no poisoning has occurred in the province.

Agreeing with the comments and assessments of the situation in the province during the Lunar New Year, the provincial leaders also raised a number of key issues and tasks that need attention in the coming time.

Comrade Nguyen Thi Thu Huong - Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Head of the Provincial Party Committee's Propaganda Department requested the province to direct propaganda to raise people's awareness, avoid online fraud; pay attention to ensuring security and order after Tet, especially preparing for the occasion of the Full Moon Festival in January.

Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Duc Trung suggested that right after Tet, it is necessary to focus on key traffic projects, as well as site clearance work to serve the 500 kV line 3 circuit project, Quang Trach - Quynh Luu section, in the province.

The Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee paid great attention to removing obstacles and difficulties for businesses and supporting FDI projects to come into operation.

Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee Hoang Nghia Hieu emphasized that the time after Tet is also the first half of the first quarter of 2024, so it is necessary to urgently get to work, not to let the Spring travel mentality linger; at the same time, focus on advising on building special and outstanding mechanisms and policies for Nghe An to submit to the Government and the National Assembly.

In the work of Party building, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee Hoang Nghia Hieu also proposed to immediately implement Regulation No. 137-QD/TW dated December 1, 2023 of the Secretariat on the functions, tasks, powers, and organizational structure of specialized agencies advising and assisting provincial and municipal Party Committees directly under the Central Government.

URGENTLY GET TO WORK, DON'T LET THE THOUGHT OF HAPPY TET AND SPRING TRAVEL LAST

Concluding the meeting, based on the analysis of favorable factors, as well as the direction and organization of the people's Tet and Spring celebrations that were carried out quite systematically and fully, Nghe An Provincial Party Secretary Thai Thanh Quy assessed: People in the province had a warm, safe and exciting Tet.

However, in the current difficult context, to perform well the tasks and ensure the development goals, the Provincial Party Secretary requested all levels, sectors and units to urgently focus on work, not to let the idea of ​​Tet and Spring travel last long.

In particular, the province needs to focus on coordinating and advising on the Resolution on special mechanisms in the spirit of Resolution No. 39-NQ/TW of the Politburo; implementing the project to expand the boundaries of Vinh city, the project to merge administrative units; preparing well the conditions to be ready to start the Cua Lo deep-water port project; clearing and soon completing the handover of 100% of the land to serve the construction of the 500 kV line circuit 3, Quang Trach - Quynh Luu section, the section in the province, so that investors can invest in construction to ensure the progress of electricity supply to the North in June 2024 as required by the Prime Minister.

The Provincial Party Secretary also noted the need to focus on directing spring crop production; preventing and controlling diseases in crops and livestock; and ensuring water sources for production, thereby ensuring an effective crop season and achieving output targets.

At the same time, it is necessary to focus on boosting production and business, especially production in the industrial sector, in line with the growth scenario; work together with businesses to overcome difficulties; and focus highly on attracting investment right from the beginning of the year.

Provincial Party Secretary Thai Thanh Quy also requested that localities be directed to bring students back to school after Tet, especially in remote areas; functional agencies coordinate with local Party committees and authorities to strengthen the management of festivals, avoid exploitation, avoid commercialization, and leave negative public opinion.

In the work of Party building, in addition to immediately implementing Regulation No. 137-QD/TW dated December 1, 2023 of the Secretariat on the functions, tasks, powers, and organizational structure of specialized agencies advising and assisting provincial and municipal Party Committees directly under the Central Government, Comrade Thai Thanh Quy requested to do a good job of arranging the organizational structure and personnel when merging administrative boundaries, to prepare a step for the grassroots Party Congress of the new term; as well as doing a good job of personnel work for the Fatherland Front Congress for the 2024 - 2029 term.
