On the afternoon of September 21 (US time, early morning of September 22 Vietnam time), Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh received a number of leading US and international enterprises in the fields of technology and aviation, includingApple , Boeing, Google and Siemens Healthineers.
Proposal for Apple to establish R&D center
Meeting with Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, Mr. Nick Ammann and senior leaders of Apple Corporation said that Vietnam is a very important market and production location with much potential for cooperation.
Mr. Ammann, Apple's vice president of global government relations, said the group is very interested in clean energy strategy and access to clean energy for Apple manufacturers in Vietnam.
Apple leaders also want to participate in developing and training human resources in Vietnam, especially software development staff. Mr. Ammann believes that Vietnam already has a fairly strong workforce in the digital economy.
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh congratulated and highly appreciated the successes of Apple Corporation globally as well as in Vietnam in recent times.
He acknowledged the proposals, welcomed the group's efforts to increase the use of clean energy and train human resources for Vietnam in the high-tech sector.
The Prime Minister suggested that Apple continue to research, expand investment cooperation, and increase localization. The head of the Government also proposed that Apple be a bridge for American businesses and Apple's partners to increase investment in Vietnam.
The Prime Minister also asked Apple to support Vietnamese enterprises in improving production capacity, consulting and research to establish a research and development (R&D) center at the National Innovation Center (NIC).
The Prime Minister hopes that Apple will turn Vietnam into a stronghold and an increasingly important link in the group's supply and production chain.
In Vietnam, Apple operates mainly through 32 factories of original equipment manufacturing partners, with the export value of Apple products in Vietnam reaching about 30 billion USD by 2022.

Meeting with Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, Boeing leaders highly appreciated the Prime Minister's vision and views on the importance of aviation economy .
Boeing then discussed strategies and commitments to cooperate with Vietnam in the coming time so that more and more people can use aviation services. The group's leaders also expressed their desire to have more and more suppliers for the group in Vietnam.
The Prime Minister asked Boeing to expand its production and supply chain in Vietnam, including building a large-scale aircraft equipment and machinery maintenance center and supporting airlines in this regard.
The Prime Minister also asked Boeing to continue to closely coordinate with Vietnamese partners to complete and deliver aircraft orders signed in the past.
Receiving Mr. Karan Bhatia - Vice President of Government Relations and Public Policy of Google , Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh highly appreciated Google's support for NIC as well as the production of smartphones and electronic products in Vietnam.

For his part, Mr. Karan Bhatia raised cooperation and investment proposals related to the field of cloud computing , cooperation and support for Vietnam in online teaching.
Supporting Google to expand its investment and production in Vietnam, the Prime Minister said he will assign relevant agencies and businesses to research, support, and cooperate so that the corporation can implement it.
The Prime Minister also asked Google to cooperate with Vietnam to ensure information safety and security and enhance digital skills training.
On the same day, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh also received leaders of Siemens Healthineers Group. Siemens Healthineers expressed its desire to continue expanding its operations, sharing experiences in the healthcare sector in Vietnam and receiving support from the Government.
