On the occasion of the New Year, the Deputy Minister announced good news about the field of sending workers to work abroad. He said that so far, about 44,000 people have registered to take the Korean language test under the Employment Permit Program for Foreign Workers in Korea (EPS program), nearly 5 times higher than last year's figure of 9,000 candidates.
Vietnamese workers are highly valued in the land of Kim Chi, so the quota that Korea has allocated to Vietnam this year has increased significantly. Specifically, not counting the additional batches, at the beginning of the year, Vietnam was allocated 15,000 workers, the highest number among the 16 countries participating in the EPS program.
"This is a non-profit program, bringing practical benefits, an opportunity for workers to work in Korea at low cost and stable income.
Recently, tens of thousands of people in provinces such as Thanh Hoa, Nghe An, Ha Tinh... have come to register for the first round of the 2024 Korean labor selection exam, showing the great attraction of this program," Deputy Minister Nguyen Ba Hoan assessed.
Recalling his working trip to Korea late last year, the Deputy Minister said he had the opportunity to visit and witness Vietnamese workers working at the Hyundai factory. He was very happy because workers at this world-leading shipyard have high and stable incomes.
"The basic salary of a skilled worker at the factory is about 2.7-2.8 million won, the total income including overtime is about 3.3-3.5 million won/person/month (about 65 million VND). The income of a skilled worker working in Korea is equal to 10 workers working in the country," said the Deputy Minister.
Deputy Minister Nguyen Ba Hoan said that in the coming time, the Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs will promote and expand new markets to receive Vietnamese workers, prioritizing markets with good working conditions, safety and high income such as Germany, Canada, etc.
