Announcement of the minimum score for the comprehensive admission method

In the comprehensive admission method, candidates are evaluated using a combination of 3 components and corresponding weights used for admission. Of which, academic performance accounts for 90%, personal achievements account for 5%, and social activities, literature, sports and arts account for 5%.

Specifically, the academic component includes 3 components: high school study score (including 6 semesters corresponding to the admission registration combination), high school graduation exam score (including subjects in the admission combination), and Ho Chi Minh City National University's 2024 capacity assessment exam score.

Individual achievement factors include national excellent student competitions, science and technology awards, foreign language proficiency, international admission certificates, membership in national, provincial/municipal excellent student teams, and other academic awards.

The rest is the literary and artistic elements and other social achievements.

Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology announced the threshold to ensure input quality with specific academic components. In particular, the Ho Chi Minh City National University's (HCMN) competency assessment test score in 2024 is from 600/1,200 points. The high school graduation exam score in 2024 is from 18/30 points (according to the admission combination). The high school academic performance score is from 54/90 points (total score of 3 subjects according to the admission combination in 3 years of high school).

What's new in the admission score calculation formula?

In the comprehensive admission method, the formula for calculating the admission score based on academic criteria includes 3 components with the following weights: 2024 National High School Graduation Exam score accounts for 70%, 2024 High School Graduation Exam score accounts for 20%, and High School Academic Score accounts for 10%.

The specific formula for calculating academic admission scores is as follows:

Admission score = (0.7 x Converted GPA) + (0.2 x High School Graduation Exam Score x3) + (0.1 x High School Graduation Score)

In which, the high school graduation exam score is the total score of 3 subjects according to the admission combination (maximum 30 points). High school graduation score: Average total score of 3 subjects according to the admission combination in 3 years of grades 10, 11, 12 (maximum 90 points).

As for the converted GPA, it is calculated as follows: For candidates who participated in the 2024 Ho Chi Minh City National University's capacity assessment exam, the converted GPA = GPA exam score x 90/990. For candidates who did not participate in the 2024 Ho Chi Minh City National University's capacity assessment exam, the converted GPA = 0.75 x (High School Graduation Exam Score/30 x 1200) x 90/990.

Meanwhile, in 2023, the formula for calculating admission scores based on academic criteria includes 3 components with the following weights: the capacity assessment test score has a weight of 75%; the high school graduation exam score has a weight of 20% and the high school academic score accounts for a maximum of 5%.

Thus, in 2024, the admission method combining many criteria of Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology will have an adjustment in the weight ratio of component scores in the total academic score. The adjustment is to reduce the weight of the competency assessment test score from 75% last year to 70% this year, and increase the weight of high school academic score from 5% last year to 10% this year.
