Scientific seminar "Achievements of Thanh Hoa Literature and Arts in the 50-year journey of accompanying and developing with the homeland and country (1975-2025)".

The dynamic movement and development of literature and art are never separated from the historical and cultural space that gave birth to it. The breadth, depth, and stature of the history and culture of that land have become the fertile "alluvium" that inspires and nurtures ideas, so that generations of artists and writers can freely "intensively cultivate" and create. Thanh Hoa literature and art have been built and developed from that profound "internal source".

Over time, with countless efforts, attempts, will to survive, talents, creativity, through cultures and civilizations, Thanh Hoa is considered as "a miniature Vietnam", a place that leaves a deep impression as "a place with many memories of the past rich in tradition and greatness", is "the foundation of the Southern country", the birthplace of famous dynasties in Vietnamese history.

In every generation, Thanh not only had wise kings and talented generals, but was also the homeland of many famous authors and scholars with valuable works in the national literary and artistic treasure. Some famous authors and works in various fields include: "Bach Van Chieu Xuan Hai" by Khuong Cong Phu, "Nam Ong Mong Luc" by Ho Nguyen Trung, "Phi Dieu Nguyen Am" by Nhu Ba Sy, "Dai Viet Su Ky" by Le Van Huu; research, translation, and study works by scholar Dao Duy Anh... In the modern period, there are writers and poets such as: Tran Mai Ninh, Thoi Huu, Ho DZenh, Huu Loan, Dai Duc Tuan, Nguyen Duy...

In particular, Thanh Hoa is honored and proud to be the “cradle” of resistance culture. Nearly 80 years ago, Quan Tin village (Trieu Son) was the place where the Inter-zone IV Resistance Cultural Group was established, the predecessor of the Vietnam Literature and Arts Association.

Thoroughly imbued with President Ho Chi Minh's ideology: "Culture and art are also a front", implementing the Party's art line since the country's reunification (April 30, 1975), over the past 50 years, the Provincial Party Committee, People's Council, and People's Committee have paid attention to leadership, direction, and promulgated policies to encourage and motivate the VNS team and the People to actively create, promote, research, and collect literary and artistic works of high ideological and artistic value.

Thanh Hoa province always has a timely and worthy reward policy for VNS who win annual awards for literature and arts and high awards in competitions, festivals, and performances; VNS of the province are awarded the title of Meritorious Artist, People's Artist, and the State Award for Literature and Arts. In the context of many difficulties and challenges, the province has paid attention and created conditions to improve and consolidate the organizational apparatus, supplement the functions and tasks of art troupes. Thanh Hoa is also one of the few localities in the country with 5 professional art troupes operating effectively. The Provincial Party Committee and the Provincial People's Committee organize meetings, visits, and encouragement for VNS on holidays, New Year, important events of the province, the country, and traditional days of associations and specialized departments. Along with that, the province regularly organizes meetings and exchanges with VNS who are Thanh Hoa people working and living in provinces and cities across the country...

In particular, on April 10, 2023, the Provincial People's Committee issued Decision No. 12/2023/QD-UBND marking the return of the 5-year Literature and Arts Award named after Le Thanh Tong with a special prize of up to 100 million VND. This return is not only a source of encouragement for VNS on their creative journey, but also demonstrates the province's interest and facilitation for the development of literature and arts in accordance with the spirit of Resolution No. 23-NQ/TW dated June 16, 2008 of the Politburo on "continuing to build and develop literature and arts in the new period"; Resolution No. 33-NQ/TW dated June 9, 2014 of the 11th Central Executive Committee on "building and developing Vietnamese culture and people to meet the requirements of sustainable national development"; the direction speech of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong at the National Cultural Conference in 2021; Resolution No. 17-NQ/TU dated July 4, 2024 of the Provincial Party Executive Committee on "continuing to build and develop Thanh Hoa culture and people in the new period"...

From that invaluable source, with that attention and facilitation, Thanh Hoa's literature and arts have gradually matured over the past 50 years, affirming its position in the general flow of literature and arts nationwide.

The Association of Literature and Arts has been interested in building and increasingly developing, becoming stronger and more comprehensive, becoming the core force for the province's literature and arts activities. From 92 initial members, up to now, the Thanh Hoa Literature and Arts Association has become a "common home" of more than 500 members, operating in 11 specialized committees (more than 50% are members of the Central Literature and Arts Associations) and 4 clubs. Among them, there are 9 People's Artists, 45 Meritorious Artists, 8 Vietnamese Artists, and cultural researchers who have been honored with the State Prize for Literature and Arts. Creative literary and artistic activities in the province are always in tune with and closely following the practical life, the movement and development of the province and the country. Over the past 50 years, thousands of books on literature and arts have been published, meeting the needs of cultural enjoyment, leaving a deep impression on readers, of which 8 works have been awarded the State Prize and the Ho Chi Minh Prize for Literature and Arts.

The work of researching, collecting, preserving and promoting cultural heritage and folk literature has been paid attention to and implemented effectively. Many types of intangible cultural heritage of ethnic groups in Thanh Hoa province have been collected and promoted such as: Folk songs, folk dances, games, folk performances, especially festivals and performances recognized as national intangible cultural heritage; some works of outstanding value have been awarded national prizes...

In order to innovate methods and improve operational efficiency, the Association of Literature and Arts has actively applied science and technology and digital transformation in recent times. Currently, the association has built a database of typical works of Thanh Hoa province (period 1975-2025) with more than 1,500 works by 393 authors in many different forms such as: Press publications, radio and television broadcasts, stage performances; reference materials in libraries, schools; exhibitions... This contributes significantly to the work of archiving, introducing and promoting Thanh Hoa's literary and artistic works to the public in the coming time.

In the context of deep international integration and the explosion of the 4.0 industrial revolution, it has had a multi-dimensional impact on the life of literature and arts. Deeply aware of that, Chairman of the Thanh Hoa Literature and Arts Association Pham Duy Phuong shared: “Thanh Hoa Literature and Arts Association has been fulfilling its mission well, contributing to building a rich spiritual life, making worthy contributions to the cause of innovation, construction and development of the country. These achievements are not only the result of talent and dedication, but also a manifestation of political mettle and love for the homeland and country. Thanh Hoa Literature and Arts will constantly innovate, create, continue to transform strongly, taking the achievements of the past as a fulcrum to continue moving forward in the new era - the era of national development”.
