On the evening of December 17, the Da Nang City Border Guard Command said that after receiving medical care, the health of the two crew members involved in the cargo ship sinking has stabilized.
Previously, as Thanh Nien reported, cargo ship number Gia Bao 19 (cargo ship, with 9 crew members on board, departing from Hai Duong to Dong Nai).
The ship was carrying 1,870 tons of coal, captained by Mr. Bui Van Hung (residing in Diem Dien commune, Thai Thuy district, Thai Binh).
On December 17, when the ship was traveling to the area across Chan May port (Thua Thien - Hue), it encountered bad weather, big waves collapsed the hatch, and water flooded into the ship.
Fishermen handed over at border control station
Then Captain Bui Van Hung directed the crew to leave the ship, everyone fell into the sea but 7 crew members were rescued by the nearby Hai An ship and taken to Chan May port.
The remaining two crew members were swept away by the waves. Fortunately, the fishing boat with registration number QNg 98294 TS of Quang Ngai province, captained by Mr. Tran Thanh Quang (45 years old, residing in Phuoc Tan hamlet, Phuoc Tinh commune, Long Dien district, Ba Ria - Vung Tau) discovered the two crew members wearing life jackets drifting at sea.
According to captain Tran Thanh Quang, fishing boat QNg 98294 TS departed from Man Quang Border Control Station on December 6, with 9 fishermen on board.
Visit and take care of fishermen's health
After many days of working at sea, on December 17, the boat went ashore to sell fish. When it reached the area with coordinates 16.42 degrees north latitude, 108.05 degrees east longitude, it discovered two people wearing life jackets drifting and calling for help.
At the time of rescue by fishing boat QNg 98294 TS, the two crew members had been drifting at sea for about 6 hours in cold weather and rough seas.
The fishing boat brought two crew members to the Man Quang Border Control Station (Son Tra Border Guard Station). After receiving them, the unit mobilized military medics to examine and provide medical care to the crew members.
By the evening of December 17, the health of the two crew members had recovered and they were conscious.
