During a working trip to Vietnam, on the afternoon of May 19, a group of commanding officers of an Indian Navy ship led by Rear Admiral Gurcharan Singh, Commander of the Eastern Fleet (Indian Navy), visited and paid a courtesy visit to the Military Region 5 Command.
Colonel Dheeraj Kotwal, Indian Defense Attaché to Vietnam, joined the delegation. On behalf of his superiors, Major General Truong Hong Quang, Deputy Chief of Staff of Military Region 5, chaired the reception.
In an atmosphere of excitement and friendship, the delegates reviewed important historical milestones, especially in the traditional, long-standing relationship and comprehensive strategic partnership between Vietnam - India and India - Vietnam. They affirmed that in the past struggles for national liberation as well as in the current cause of national construction and defense, India has always persistently supported Vietnam. The two sides have always closely coordinated and supported each other bilaterally as well as at international and regional forums. Over the past time, the field of defense cooperation between the two countries has been continuously promoted, continued to develop, achieved substantial results, and become an important pillar in the relationship between the two countries.
Major General Truong Hong Quang and Rear Admiral Gurcharan Singh hope that the visit and work of the Indian Navy will contribute to strengthening the relationship and mutual understanding between the two countries' armies.
