On the morning of June 21, with 448/449 delegates participating in the vote in favor (equal to 91.99% of the total number of National Assembly delegates), the National Assembly passed a Resolution to establish a Thematic Supervision Delegation on "Implementation of policies and laws on environmental protection since the Law on Environmental Protection 2020 took effect".

The National Assembly assigned Mr. Nguyen Duc Hai, Vice Chairman of the National Assembly, as Head of the Delegation. The Permanent Deputy Head of the Delegation is Mr. Le Quang Huy, Member of the National Assembly Standing Committee, Chairman of the National Assembly's Committee on Science, Technology and Environment.

Deputy Heads of the delegation include Mr. Vu Hong Thanh, Member of the National Assembly Standing Committee, Chairman of the National Assembly's Economic Committee; Mr. Le Quang Manh, Member of the National Assembly Standing Committee, Chairman of the National Assembly's Finance and Budget Committee.

The members, delegates and experts invited to join the Supervisory Delegation are decided by the Standing Committee of the National Assembly.

The supreme supervision topic aims to assess the promulgation and implementation of policies and laws on environmental protection, focusing on assessing the implementation of the Law on Environmental Protection No. 72/2020/QH14, resolutions of the National Assembly and the National Assembly Standing Committee related to environmental protection.

At the same time, clearly point out the shortcomings, limitations, causes and responsibilities of agencies, organizations and individuals; draw lessons to improve the effectiveness of implementing policies and laws on environmental protection.

Along with that, recommend and propose solutions to improve policies and laws on environmental protection and other relevant legal provisions, improve the effectiveness of organizing the implementation of policies and laws on environmental protection and handle responsibilities for relevant agencies, organizations and individuals.

The scope of supervision is the implementation of environmental protection policies and laws nationwide from the effective date of the Law on Environmental Protection No. 72/2020/QH14 until December 31, 2024.

Subjects of supervision include: Government, Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, relevant Ministries and ministerial-level agencies; People's Councils, People's Committees of provinces and centrally-run cities and relevant agencies, organizations and individuals.

The delegation will focus on monitoring the following contents: The promulgation and completion of policies and laws on environmental protection; the organization of implementation of policies and laws on environmental protection.

The monitoring results will be submitted to the National Assembly for consideration at the 10th Session (October 2025).
