On November 13, the People's Committee of Quang Nam province said that Chairman of the People's Committee Le Van Dung sent an official dispatch to the Ministry of National Defense regarding the review, delimitation, and handover of civil land to implement the project of socializing investment and exploitation of Chu Lai Airport.
Specifically, to implement Notice No. 135 (2022) of the Government Office on the conclusion of Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh at the working session with the leaders of Quang Nam province, including the project of socializing investment and exploitation of Chu Lai Airport, the Provincial People's Committee reports to the Ministry of National Defense to pay attention to resolving the following content:
Chu Lai Airport, with an area of about 2,148 hectares, is currently managed and used by the Ministry of National Defense. Of which, the area west of the main road leading to Chu Lai Airport has an area of about 1,281 hectares, including existing works invested and constructed by the Vietnam Airports Corporation (ACV) and technical works managed by the military.
The area east of the main road to Chu Lai airport has an area of about 868 hectares, currently vacant land, with no infrastructure works on the land.
According to the plan, the eastern area will be invested in developing a new system of runways, taxiways, aprons, passenger terminals, and cargo terminals in a synchronized manner, ensuring operational standards as an independent airport.
Therefore, to implement the project of socializing investment and exploitation of Chu Lai Airport, the People's Committee of Quang Nam province requested the Ministry of National Defense to preside over and coordinate with relevant ministries and branches and the province to measure and clearly define the area of civil aviation land, military land, and shared military land (shared civil and military land).
In addition, establish records and procedures to hand over the civil aviation land area to Quang Nam province for management.
First, hand over the area east of the main road to Chu Lai airport (about 868 hectares) to the province to soon deploy documents and procedures related to socialized investment and exploitation of Chu Lai airport according to the direction of the Prime Minister.
