The 2nd International Mathematical Olympiad for High School Students, Turkmenistan took place from April 21 to 26 in the capital Ashgabat, Turkmenistan.
In this exam, the Vietnamese student delegation had 6 students competing, all 6 won gold medals. Among them, the twins Nguyen Tri Hau and Nguyen Tri Hien and Nguyen Phuc Nguyen, grade 11, Newton Secondary and High School, Hanoi, both achieved 40 points - the highest score of the Vietnamese delegation.
The remaining Gold medals went to three students: Tran Quang Nhat, grade 12, Le Quy Don High School for the Gifted, Da Nang city, with 35 points; Lai Gia Khai, grade 11, High School for the Gifted, Hanoi National University of Education, with 34 points; Vu Viet Ha, grade 12, Nguyen Trai High School for the Gifted, Hai Duong province, with 31 points.

Director of the Department of Education and Training of Quang Nam province, Thai Viet Tuong, emphasized that the achievements of Nguyen Tri Hau and Nguyen Tri Hien are not only a source of pride for their families and schools, but also a vivid demonstration of the sustainable development of Quang Nam education. They have affirmed the capacity, courage and outstanding efforts of the new generation of students, bringing the image of the province to the international level.
Mr. Thai Viet Tuong also acknowledged that with dedication and a methodical training strategy, Nguyen Binh Khiem High School for the Gifted continues to make its mark in national and international student achievements, actively contributing to the development of high-quality human resources for Quang Nam province.
Chairman of Quang Nam Provincial People's Committee Le Van Dung affirmed that this is a great joy for the Party Committee, government and people of Quang Nam province. The results that Nguyen Tri Hau and Nguyen Tri Hien have achieved continue to affirm the tradition of studiousness of their homeland Quang Nam. This is also a valuable asset for them to continue on the path of knowledge, at the same time opening up new expectations for the young generation of the province.
The Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee acknowledged and commended the efforts of the education sector, the teachers of Nguyen Binh Khiem High School for the Gifted, and the silent sacrifices of parents, which have contributed to giving wings to young talents to shine.
Sharing at the award ceremony, Nguyen Tri Hau expressed that the days of studying and competing in Turkmenistan are unforgettable memories.
"Although we are in a foreign land, we always carry in our hearts the image of our beloved homeland Vietnam, Quang Nam. Today's success is the beginning of a long journey ahead and we vow to do our best to become useful citizens, contributing to our homeland and country," Tri Hau said.

The Chairman of the People's Committee of Quang Nam province awarded a Certificate of Merit and a bonus of 150 million VND to each student (Nguyen Tri Hau and Nguyen Tri Hien) in recognition of their outstanding achievements.
Quang Nam Provincial Youth Union also awarded Certificates of Merit to the two students for their efforts in studying. The Provincial Association for Promotion of Education presented meaningful gifts to encourage and motivate them. At the same time, the Provincial Traffic Construction Management Board presented two laptops to support the students in their future studies and research.
According to the Ministry of Education and Training, the Turkmenistan Mathematical Olympiad aims to nurture students' talents and abilities, enhance friendship, and develop progressive thinking and open-mindedness among young people.
This year's exam has 15 participating countries, including some countries with good traditions in Mathematics such as China, Russia, Bulgaria, Türkiye, etc.
The Organizing Committee officially awarded prizes to 50% of the participating contestants, in which the ratio of Gold: Silver: Bronze medals was 1:2:3. In addition, the Organizing Committee also awarded certificates of merit to students who achieved the maximum score for a math problem.
The test takes place over one day. The test consists of 5 problems, each worth 10 points. The time limit is 5 hours.
