It can be said that Vo Quang Phu Duc (student of Quoc Hoc High School for the Gifted, Thua Thien - Hue) had an absolute victory in the final match of the 24th year of the Road to Olympia when he led throughout all the competitions.
Not only that, the male student also made viewers truly admire him with many impressive moments.
Right in the Warm-up round, Phu Duc started his performance by answering all 6 questions correctly and getting the maximum score. This result made the whole audience gasp and applaud him. From that moment on, he led the climbing team until the end of the competition.
However, Phu Duc's ability really made many people admire him in the Obstacle Course round right after that. When the first horizontal question suggestion was just read out, the answer had not yet been announced, Phu Duc pressed the bell to signal for the obstacle course answer.
Phu Duc’s quick but accurate answer “Net Zero” brought the Obstacle Course round of the year’s finals to a quick end. This is probably one of the shortest Obstacle Course rounds in the history of the Road to Olympia program.
Sharing with VietNamNet right after the competition, Phu Duc said: “I feel very happy to become the champion of the 24th Road to Olympia and the third champion of Thua Thien – Hue province. My victory also helped Thua Thien – Hue equal the record of Quang Ninh to become the province with the most Olympia champions in the country (3 champions – PV)”, Phu Duc shared.
Phu Duc said that his leading performance throughout the competition probably came from the fact that he always kept a stable mentality.
“I think my bravery and smart strategy helped me win today's match,” Phu Duc said.
In fact, Phu Duc had created a huge advantage after the first 3 rounds. However, the Finishing round witnessed the strong rise of Nguyen Phu and this also created a challenge for the Hue male student.
That smart strategy was most clearly demonstrated at the moment when I pressed the bell to answer the last question of the competition. That was the question that could decide the championship, when the player right behind me, Nguyen Phu, was only 20 points behind. Because if I pressed the bell to answer, even if I gave the wrong answer, I would only lose 15 points, still 5 points ahead of my closest player, Nguyen Phu, and win the final. That scenario also happened exactly like that in reality.
“During the competition, I felt most stressed when my opponent Nguyen Phu was only 20 points behind me. I realized that it was a situation I had encountered in the third quarter match and in my head I already had a strategy to deal with it,” Phu Duc shared.
Phu Duc shared that after this victory, when he returns home, he will do everything he had to refuse his friends to focus on preparing for the final match.
Phu Duc has a hobby of studying Math and shares that his way of studying is to find practical applications of a theorem or formula to be able to remember it. He also has a passion for programming. He was also the champion of Olympia organized by the school.
Mr. Le Van Luan, Phu Duc's homeroom teacher and also his Math teacher, said that his first impression of him was that he was an intelligent student, with good thinking, sharp thinking, and a great desire to explore and research. Phu Duc also loves to learn and expand his knowledge in all subjects. Thanks to that, his knowledge is in all subjects.
“Phu Duc is a friendly student, close to his friends, and is loved by teachers and friends. Duc always participates enthusiastically in group activities. He also actively participates in competitions in many different fields and achieves good results,” said Mr. Luan.
In addition to studying and practicing for Olympia, Phu Duc also spends time exercising and reading books. “These are very healthy habits that I really like,” the male student said.
In his spare time, he also enjoys wrapping ham and often goes to his neighbor's house (who makes Hue ham) to help him wrap ham.
Thus, after 7 television matches with Phu Duc's recent victory, Thua Thien - Hue has leveled the gap with Quang Ninh to become the provinces with the most number of champions (3 champions).
Winning the final round of Road to Olympia with a prize of 50,000 USD and the opportunity to study abroad, but for now, the male student will continue to focus on completing his high school program.
