Plan International expands cooperation with Quang Tri in new areas

Speaking at the reception, Ms. Le Quynh Lan, Country Director of Plan International in Vietnam (Plan), affirmed that she will continue to accompany Quang Tri in improving living conditions for disadvantaged children, girls and youth in the period of 2025-2029, and at the same time coordinate to build the next 5-year plan in line with the province's socio -economic development strategy.

Here, representatives of departments, branches and localities highly appreciated the commitment, companionship and technical support of Plan Organization, helping programs and projects to be effectively implemented and replicated.

At the same time, Quang Tri also requested Plan to continue to pay attention to vulnerable groups of children and youth, expand cooperation in preventing and combating child marriage and drugs, protecting children in the online environment, promoting gender equality and career guidance for young people, especially in mountainous areas and for children with disabilities. In addition, the province also proposed to support organic production models associated with product consumption, developing value chains, and OCOP craft villages.

Also at the meeting, Vice Chairman of Quang Tri Provincial People's Committee Hoang Xuan Tan highly appreciated the persistent and effective contributions of Plan International in Vietnam over nearly three decades of accompanying Quang Tri, making practical contributions to poverty reduction, improving the quality of life and promoting gender equality, especially for girls and children in remote areas.

Mr. Hoang Xuan Tan hopes that Plan International in Vietnam will continue to be a strategic partner in the period of 2025-2029 and the following years, prioritizing support for post-merger communes, implementing sustainable poverty reduction projects, building new rural areas, as well as expanding cooperation in new areas such as preventing and combating social evils, protecting children in the online environment, developing organic production models and OCOP.

Plan International began cooperating with Quang Tri in 1996 and has so far supported the locality with a total budget of more than VND 798 billion. In the period 2026-2029, Plan International in Vietnam plans to support about VND 199.5 billion in the following areas: Child protection and gender-based violence prevention; increasing access to health, education and reproductive health services for girls; building climate change-adaptive communities; vocational training and entrepreneurship for youth; supporting small businesses in remote areas.

Along with activities to increase children's participation in policy dialogue, community activities and schools. Plan prioritizes mountainous communes and disadvantaged areas in the North and South of Quang Tri province.
