Phu My commune focuses on developing traffic infrastructure, creating momentum for socio -economic development, especially agricultural commodity production.
After merging the three communes of Lien Hoa, Le My and Phu My, the new Phu My commune has a large area and a large population. The expanded scale means more potential for development, but also puts a lot of pressure on management, planning and mobilizing investment resources. In response to that requirement, at the 1st Party Congress of the commune, term 2025-2030, Phu My identified a strategic breakthrough: Synchronously building infrastructure; focusing on transforming the agricultural economic structure towards commodity production, taking that as the foundation to promote comprehensive socio-economic development.
In fact, this new development thinking does not come from theory but is summarized through the changes that Phu My has undergone in recent times. During the 2020-2025 term, the whole commune has mobilized over 1,600 billion VND in social investment capital. Many key projects on transportation, irrigation, schools, cultural houses, etc. have been implemented, contributing to the formation of an increasingly spacious and synchronous infrastructure system. Inter-village and intra-field roads are concreted, not only serving rural transportation but also creating a direct driving force for the development of concentrated production areas.
Comrade Nguyen Duc Thanh, Chairman of Phu My Commune People's Committee shared: "We identify infrastructure as not only a condition but also a key driving force. Each opened route is a door to development, helping agricultural products reach the market, helping people access new opportunities. Choosing infrastructure as a breakthrough is a strategic step to create a foundation for long-term, sustainable development."
Along with infrastructure, the agricultural sector has had positive movements. Phu My has initially formed production models towards commodities such as: Growing Tam Hong grapefruit according to VietGAP standards, growing Moc Chau oranges, giang trees for export leaves, thornless pineapples, chili trees according to the chain linkage model. Some livestock and aquaculture models with high income such as Le My hill chicken, eel, catfish, commercial snails... have affirmed their effectiveness, initially building a separate brand for the locality.
However, these achievements are still not commensurate with the potential. The conversion of crop and livestock structure is still slow, and large-scale, concentrated commodity production areas have not been formed. The area converted from inefficient crops to Gia Thanh rose apple - a key crop with high value - is still limited. Many agricultural models with good income are still limited to household scale and have not been widely replicated. The linkage between production and consumption in the chain is still weak, making it difficult to compete in the market. Not only that, local land management still has shortcomings. The auction of land use rights has not met the set plan, affecting investment resources. There is still environmental pollution in the livestock farming process.
Comrade Nguyen Duc Thanh - Chairman of Phu My Commune People's Committee added: "With the determination to transform, in the new term, the commune will continue to review and re-plan production areas; encourage land accumulation; promote the construction of new cooperative models associated with enterprises. The goal is not only simple agricultural production but also high-value agricultural economy".
Phu My has also set clear goals by 2030: Basically complete infrastructure serving production, transportation, and internal irrigation; synchronize mechanization of production stages; develop at least 2-3 OCOP products with 3 stars or higher; expand cultivation and livestock areas according to VietGAP standards, and gradually apply high technology to production. These are important foundations for the commune to aim to become an advanced new rural commune in the coming period.
Along with economic development, the commune continues to promote administrative reform, enhance the application of information technology, improve management efficiency, publicity and transparency in handling administrative procedures for the people. Social security, national defense and security, and building a clean and strong political system are always given attention and implemented synchronously.
Phu My today is facing new development opportunities, but at the same time, there are also challenges in the local development process. The determination of the Party Committee, the government and the consensus of the people will be the decisive factors for the commune to realize the breakthrough goal. Infrastructure is completed, production thinking will be changed, agriculture will shift to large-scale commodity production. All are creating new positions and strengths for Phu My to confidently strive to be a bright spot in the construction of advanced new rural areas, contributing to the overall development of Phu Tho province.
