Promote economic development, improve people's lives

The April 30 victory is a great historical event, marking an important turning point in the nation's history, opening an era of independence, freedom and national unification. Throughout the past period, the Party Committee, government and people of Bac Lieu province have constantly strived, united, overcome all difficulties and challenges, and achieved important achievements in all fields. The economic scale is increasingly growing, the province's economic growth in the 2021-2024 period increased by an average of 6.74%/year; the economic structure has shifted in the right direction; the total product in the area (GRDP) per capita in 2024 reached 70.66 million VND/year... Industrial development, focusing on renewable energy, has achieved many important results, maintaining the production of 8 wind power projects with an output of about 1,358 million kWh. The tourism industry has also recovered and developed quite well. Currently, the whole province has 12 typical tourist attractions in the Mekong Delta, recognized as the province with the most tourist attractions among the provinces and cities in the region...

In the coming time, Bac Lieu will continue to maximize its potential and strengths, build itself to become a strong province in marine economy, adapt to climate change; become a clean energy center of the country; have a synchronous infrastructure system, harmonious social development, and improve people's lives... To realize this vision, by 2030, the province will focus on key targets: GRDP growth rate reaches 9.5-10.5%/year; average income reaches about 187 million VND/person/year; state budget revenue in the province increases by 17-18%/year; export turnover of goods reaches about 2 billion USD; ensure social security, sustainable poverty reduction, improve people's material and spiritual life; the rate of multidimensional poor households decreases by an average of 1%/year.

Following in the footsteps of our ancestors

On February 3, 1975, as soon as it arrived in the Central Highlands, the 316th Division received orders to quickly prepare in all aspects, ready to participate in the Central Highlands Campaign - the opening campaign for the 1975 Spring General Offensive and Uprising. In the Central Highlands Campaign, with its fierce attacks, bold, flexible, and unexpected fighting style, the Division quickly took control of the battlefield, destroyed the enemy, and liberated Buon Ma Thuot town. In the 5 rapid-fire wings of the Ho Chi Minh Campaign, the 316th Division was in the combat formation of the 3rd Corps advancing to Saigon, along with the wings that created the Great Victory of Spring 1975. In the Ho Chi Minh Campaign, the 316th Division eliminated 6,715 enemy soldiers from combat; defeated the police force, security forces, and militia, liberated many hamlets and communes from Tay Ninh to Phuoc My, shot down 4 planes, and captured and destroyed many enemy weapons and equipment. It can be affirmed that during the resistance war against America to save the country, Division 316 gradually matured, continuously fought and won.

Inheriting and promoting the spirit of the April 30 Victory, in the current period, facing the requirement of building a strong, compact and elite Army and meeting the requirements of new tasks, officers and soldiers of Division 316 always uphold the spirit of revolutionary vigilance; sharpen the will to be ready to fight; be democratic, united, resilient, creative, and determined to win in construction, training, studying and working. Always actively take the lead in helping people overcome the consequences of natural disasters, storms and floods. Thereby contributing to writing new feats and achievements, adding more color to the glorious traditional history of "Loyalty - self-reliance - solidarity - resilience - creativity - victory" of the heroic Division 316.

Focus on traditional education for the young generation

Over the years, Division 968 has promoted propaganda, education on traditions, and political and ideological activities, helping cadres and soldiers deeply understand the historical value and great stature of the April 30 Victory, affirming the leadership role of the Party, the glorious feats and great sacrifices of previous generations.

The Division always focuses on diversifying forms of propaganda, closely combining concentrated political study with lively activities, such as: Traditional talks, exchanges with historical witnesses, documentary screenings, exhibitions of paintings and photos; organizing seminars and youth forums... In addition, the Division organizes high-level emulation movements, combining education with training tasks, combat readiness, discipline training, and regular construction. From 2020 to present, the unit has mobilized thousands of working days, vehicles, plant varieties, and livestock to help localities build new rural areas, overcome the consequences of natural disasters and epidemics, provide free medical examinations and medicine to people, policy beneficiaries, and disadvantaged families... thereby contributing to strengthening military-civilian solidarity. Thanks to the synchronous implementation of the above measures, the political awareness of cadres and soldiers has been constantly improved. Through internal surveys, 100% of cadres and soldiers clearly understood the historical significance of the April 30 Victory and had absolute confidence in the Party's leadership. Many comrades promoted a good sense of responsibility, initiative and creativity in their work, contributing to improving the quality of training and combat readiness; the unit was always united, overcame all difficulties and challenges, and successfully completed all tasks assigned by the Party, State and people.

Training soldiers to master modern weapons and equipment

As one of the forces prioritized by the Party, State, Central Military Commission, and Ministry of National Defense to build and advance towards modernization, in recent years, the Vietnam Coast Guard in general and Squadron 21 in particular have invested in building modern facilities, ships, boats, weapons, and technical equipment to meet the requirements of the task of protecting the sacred sovereignty of the sea and islands of the Fatherland. The unit regularly does a good job of training soldiers to proficiently use the weapons and technical equipment assigned to it, increasing night training and training in complex weather conditions. On the other hand, the ships and boats of the Squadron are diverse in types and equipment, so the unit has applied the form of rotational training so that soldiers not only grasp the equipment and means of their own ships but also grasp the equipment and means of other types of ships and boats in the unit, so that when there is an urgent task, they can immediately strengthen the implementation of the task.

In addition, the unit also received, organized training and put into use new, modern equipment such as radar, day and night target observation system, target identification equipment; unmanned aircraft equipment in performing tactical training missions and live-fire at sea to improve training quality, combat readiness, and protect the sea and airspace of the Fatherland. With the achievements and results, Squadron 21 was honored to be awarded the title "Determined to Win Unit" in 2023 by the Vietnam Coast Guard, the "Excellent Training Unit" Flag in 2023 by the Ministry of National Defense; many collectives and individuals were commended in the emulation movement of all levels, sectors and the unit.

Efforts to bring a prosperous life to the people

In recent years, the Party Committee and authorities at all levels in Thuan Chau district (Son La) have continuously promoted economic development and cared for the lives of ethnic minorities in the area. They have promptly directed specialized units, departments and offices to closely follow the grassroots to support farmers, while promoting the effective implementation of national target projects and programs in the area, contributing to promoting sustainable agricultural development. In particular, the district focuses on developing agriculture in the direction of specialization, promoting the application of science and technology, and applying high technology to production according to the value chain. Up to now, a number of specialized areas have been gradually formed, such as: Tea areas concentrated in the communes of Chieng Pha, Phong Lai, Muong E, Phong Lap; coffee growing in the communes of Nam Lau, Ban Lam, Chieng Bom, Phong Lai, Chieng Pha; mango growing in the communes of Muong Khieng, Bo Muoi, Liep Te, etc.

In the work of eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses, through review, in 2025, Thuan Chau district has 385 houses of poor and near-poor households that need to be newly built and repaired with a total cost of more than 21 billion VND. By April 1, the entire district had completed the construction and repair of 359/385 houses to ensure solid foundations, solid frames, and solid roofs. The district strives to complete the work of supporting housing for poor and near-poor households before April 30, bringing Thuan Chau out of the poor district category in 2025.
