According to Mr. Doan Van Song, Party Secretary, Chairman of the People's Council of the commune, with the participation of the entire political system, the attention of the Party Committee, the government and the consensus of the people of the old communes as well as the current Nam Dong commune, the local socio-economic picture has many positive changes. In the structure of total product value, agriculture still accounts for the majority (in 2025, the proportion of agriculture is 59.51%, trade and services 22.76%, small industry and construction 17.74%). The total investment capital implemented in the area increases by an average of about 17.2% annually. The total state budget revenue in the period of 2021 - 2025 is 8.29 billion VND. The average income per capita by 2025 will reach 48 million VND/year.

Mr. Nguyen Van Hoa, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee, Chairman of the Commune People's Committee, said that the locality focuses on agricultural development in the direction of restructuring the agricultural sector, concentrated production in association with building new rural areas. Focusing all resources on investing in comprehensive agricultural development, increasing value and efficiency. The total value of the industry's products is estimated at 320 billion VND, maintaining the rubber production area; creating an orange and citrus growing area in Huong Xuan commune (old), a pineapple growing area in Huong Son (old). Cultivation develops in the direction of increasing value and efficiency, promoting the conversion of crop structure, applying scientific and technical advances in production, focusing on intensive farming, replicating advanced production models (net houses, membrane houses) and linking in production. In addition, production according to organic processes, VietGAP, OCOP aims to increase economic value on a cultivated area; Regularly promote and mobilize to increase the economic value of gardens, the total garden land area is 262 hectares. In Nam Dong commune, livestock farming has developed stably; focusing on developing livestock farming in the direction of farms and organic farming.

The locality promoted the development of industry, small-scale industry and rural occupations with positive changes. Industry and small-scale industry reached 76.2 billion VND, an increase of 1.69 times compared to the beginning of the term. Small-scale industry and rural occupations developed and remained stable; maintained Huong Hoa Industrial Cluster; developed a stone sawing and cladding factory... In addition, the locality also rapidly and diversified the service, tourism and trade sectors.

One of the contents that Nam Dong commune is very interested in implementing is the program of building new rural areas associated with sustainable poverty reduction; socio-economic development in ethnic minority and mountainous areas. According to the leaders of the commune People's Committee, poverty reduction work has been focused on, and solutions have been implemented to improve people's lives. Up to now, the rural appearance has improved a lot, the social infrastructure system has been invested quite synchronously, basically meeting the production and living requirements of the people. In the past 5 years, 30 temporary houses have been eliminated, and up to now, there are no households with temporary, dilapidated houses in the area.

The locality also pays special attention to socio-cultural development, especially education and training, mobilizing social resources to invest in infrastructure, improving the quality of schools to meet national standards.
