The Kremlin has confirmed that Russian President Vladimir Putin and North Korean leader Kim Jong-un gave each other rifles during their meeting in the Far East.
"President Putin presented Chairman Kim Jong-un with a rifle of the highest quality made in Russia. The president also received a rifle made in North Korea," Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said at a press conference in Moscow on September 14.
Mr Putin also gave Mr Kim "a glove from a spacesuit that had been used many times in space", Mr Peskov added.

The Kremlin spokesman also confirmed that the Russian President had accepted an invitation from Chairman Kim Jong-un to visit North Korea, but did not specify the time. Mr. Putin returned to Moscow after meeting Mr. Kim Jong-un in the Far East.
"The summit between the leaders of the two countries was timely, useful and constructive. Russia will continue to develop relations with North Korea," Peskov said, adding that Kim Jong-un will continue to visit Russia in the next few days.
"North Korea is our neighbor and, like other neighboring countries, Russia intends to build and develop good relations and mutually beneficial cooperation based on mutual respect," he added.

The Kremlin spokesman said Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov would visit North Korea in October. Asked whether Russia would lift sanctions on North Korea, Peskov said Russia remains a responsible member of the United Nations Security Council.
North Korean leader Kim Jong Un arrived in Russia by train on September 12 at the invitation of President Putin. This is Kim's first foreign trip since 2019.
The Russian president hailed the “strengthening of cooperation and friendship between the two countries” as he welcomed Kim Jong-un to a spaceport in the Far East on September 13. The North Korean leader told Putin that Russia would surely achieve a “resounding victory” over its rival.
The Russian president raised the possibility of military-technical cooperation with North Korea while fully complying with international restrictions. The Kremlin spokesman also said that Russia and North Korea have the potential to cooperate in space.
