People's Artist Tran Ly Ly becomes President of the Art Council of Vietnam Dance Academy

(CLO) The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism has just issued a decision to appoint People's Artist Tran Ly Ly, Deputy Director of the Department of Performing Arts, to hold the position of Chairman of the Art Council of the Vietnam Dance Academy for a 5-year term.

Sharing about this decision, People's Artist Tran Ly Ly said that she is mentally and spiritually ready to meet the development expectations of the Academy. "With my new role, I hope to bring all my talent, passion and experience to contribute to raising the level of Vietnamese dance art," she shared.

Born into a family with an artistic tradition, People's Artist Tran Ly Ly began studying dance formally at the age of 10 and quickly achieved many impressive achievements. The artist won the National Young Dance Talent Award in 1992 and 1994 before becoming valedictorian of the Dance Composition Department - Hanoi Academy of Theatre and Cinema.

With outstanding talent, Tran Ly Ly received a scholarship to study abroad at Queensland University of Technology (Australia) and spent 7 years studying and working in Australia and France before returning to Vietnam in 2003.

During her career, she has taken on many important management roles, from Vice Principal of Ho Chi Minh City Dance School, Director of Vietnam National Opera and Ballet (VNOB), Acting Director and then Deputy Director of the Department of Performing Arts.

Under the leadership of Tran Ly Ly, the Vietnam National Opera and Ballet Theater has made a splash with a series of international-class plays such as "The Sculptor", "Swan Lake", "Les Miserables"... Of which, "Swan Lake" caused a "ticket fever" and set a record for the number of shows at the Hanoi Opera House.

With her great contributions, People's Artist Tran Ly Ly received the State Prize for Literature and Arts in 2022 and was awarded the title of People's Artist in 2023.
