Extending the journey of caring for the poor

In the general development flow, the socio-economy is increasingly developing, but a part of the population still faces difficulties in housing, employment, and unstable income. With the spirit of "leaving no one behind", in recent times, Party committees at all levels, authorities, and the Vietnam Fatherland Front have implemented many practical activities, caring for and helping the poor to gradually improve their lives and strive for long-term stability.

Together for social security

Every year, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Tay Ninh province actively implements the movement "For the poor - No one is left behind". Accordingly, many diverse support activities, from building Great Unity houses, supporting means of livelihood, granting scholarships, health insurance cards to free medical examination and treatment, helping with capital for economic development, etc. are effectively implemented.

Since the beginning of 2025, the Fatherland Front at all levels in the province has mobilized agencies, units, businesses, and philanthropists inside and outside the province to participate in supporting the "For the Poor" Fund; continue to implement poverty reduction models in the locality; mobilize the construction and repair of hundreds of charity houses, Trade Union shelters, Comrades' houses, etc.; give hundreds of gifts; support many cases of economic development, difficult circumstances, children with serious illnesses; coordinate to organize medical examinations and give free medicine with a total value of billions of VND.

In particular, the emulation movement "Joining hands to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses" has been strongly implemented, mobilizing the participation of the entire political system and the consensus of the people. As of May 30, 2025, the whole province has supported the construction of 924 houses with a total amount of more than 73.1 billion VND, of which 774 new houses were built and 150 Great Solidarity houses were repaired for poor and near-poor households, reaching 100% of the plan.

Many local poverty reduction models such as the Board of Directors associated with poor households; Receiving, supporting, and helping social protection beneficiaries; Each individual associated with a humanitarian address;... have been effectively maintained, not only providing timely material and spiritual support to difficult circumstances but also arousing a sense of responsibility and mutual love in the community.

Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Permanent Vice Chairwoman of the Provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee Nguyen Thi Thu Trinh said: “Every contribution, no matter how big or small, demonstrates the community’s solidarity and spirit of sharing. As an agency that gathers and unites the entire population, the Provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front always proactively connects and mobilizes all social resources to care for the poor. We not only support people to overcome immediate difficulties, but more importantly, we also create conditions for them to have sustainable livelihoods and strive to stabilize their lives.”

Spread the spirit of sharing

In order to spread the spirit of sharing and promote the strength of great solidarity, many localities have realized the policy of caring for the poor into specific actions, bringing about clear results. In which, Long Huu commune is a typical example.

Every year, the commune surveys and makes a list of poor and near-poor households, identifies the causes of difficulties to have appropriate support solutions. In addition to mobilizing to build houses and give gifts, the locality focuses on coordinating with credit organizations to provide preferential loans for people to develop their economy; organizes training courses on cultivation and animal husbandry techniques, and transfers suitable plants and breeds.

As a beneficiary of the Grain of Grain of Love model, Mrs. Tran Thi Hai (residing in Dong hamlet, Long Huu commune) emotionally said: “I am over 70 years old this year, have 3 sons but 2 of them have congenital diseases, life is very difficult. Thanks to the attention of the government and philanthropists, I was supported to build a charity house, received gifts and monthly rice support. That help helps my family to reduce worries, have more motivation to overcome difficulties”.

Poverty reduction work in the commune has achieved many positive results. Currently, there are 32 poor households in the commune, accounting for 0.49% of the total number of households in the commune. The work of mobilizing universal health insurance has been focused on implementation, up to now, the commune has 23,300 participants, reaching nearly 98%. In the past 5 years, the commune has provided vocational training and created jobs for 6,767 workers, and sent 27 workers to work abroad.

Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Long Huu Commune, Nguyen Dang Khoa, shared: “The poverty reduction results of the commune are a testament to the strength of national solidarity. From the government, the Front, organizations to each person, everyone joins hands and contributes whatever they have. We always aim to support the right and appropriate needs of each household, combining technical guidance, creating conditions for loans and encouraging the spirit so that people have more motivation to rise up.”

Give shelter - sow trust

In recent years, along with effectively implementing poverty reduction programs, Thanh Phuoc commune has also paid special attention to housing for people, especially poor households, families with meritorious services to the revolution. Each house of gratitude, love or Great Solidarity house given away is not only a place to shelter from the rain and sun, but also represents the affection, responsibility and sharing of the whole community.

Over the past 5 years, the commune has mobilized contributions from organizations and individuals to build and repair 117 shelters at a cost of more than 6.3 billion VND. The emulation movement to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses for poor households facing housing difficulties was implemented and completed on schedule by the commune. The spacious houses that have sprung up to replace the dilapidated thatched roofs have lit up the faith and hope of people in difficult circumstances.

Ms. Pham Thi Thuy Trieu (living in Vinh Sao hamlet) expressed: “In the past time, the local government and Vietnam Fatherland Front not only supported the construction of solid houses but also regularly visited, gave gifts, and encouraged my family on every holiday and New Year. Thanks to that attention, my family has reduced difficulties, has more motivation to rise up, and stabilizes life.”

The work of creating sustainable livelihoods has been focused on, the commune introduced jobs for 3,760/2,250 workers, reaching 167% of the plan; social assistance policies have been fully implemented, to the right subjects; visits and gift giving to poor, near-poor and disadvantaged households have been organized regularly. Up to now, the poverty rate of the commune is only 0.65% (at the beginning of the term it was 1.51%).

Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Thanh Phuoc Commune Nguyen Duy Thoai emphasized: “We identify caring for the poor as the responsibility and sentiment of the entire political system and the community. Each support activity aims to help the poor improve their lives and escape poverty sustainably. By being proactive and creative, we have demonstrated the spirit of solidarity, humanity, and community cohesion, creating a solid foundation for the locality to fulfill its socio-economic development goals.”

The path to sustainable poverty reduction is a long-term process, requiring perseverance and synchronous coordination. The results achieved in recent times affirm the core role of the Vietnam Fatherland Front and its member organizations in mobilizing social resources. New houses, means of livelihood, many scholarships and gifts supported not only have material value but also serve as encouragement and spiritual support for the poor to have more determination to rise up./.
