Youth unemployment remains high, with more than 5 million young people unemployed. The underutilized labor force is 4.5%.

According to quick statistics from localities, in the first 5 months of the year, the number of affected workers who had to quit or have their jobs extended was more than 500,000 workers.

Of which, the number of workers who quit or lost their jobs is about 280,000 people; the number of workers who reduced their working hours is 195,000 people; 17,000 people stopped working, workers stopped working, took unpaid leave...

The number of employed workers has decreased in localities with large industrial parks and economic zones such as Ho Chi Minh City, Ba Ria - Vung Tau, Bac Ninh, Bac Giang, and Thai Nguyen.

The Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs stated that the labor market is currently under control. However, with difficulties in production and business of key industries not being thoroughly resolved, there is a risk that the labor market will be severely affected in the coming time.

Regarding the development of the labor market information system, the Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs will improve the capacity of staff working on statistics, information analysis and labor market forecasting. In addition, it will also exchange and cooperate internationally to improve professionalism in labor market forecasting.
