This morning (May 4), at Thong Nhat Hall, Saigon Giai Phong Newspaper in collaboration with the Vietnam Association of Photographic Artists organized an award ceremony for the photo contest with the theme "Land of Thousands of Flowers" to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the first issue of Saigon Giai Phong Newspaper, May 5, 1975 - May 5, 2025.
The photo contest “Land of a Thousand Flowers” was organized by Saigon Giai Phong Newspaper in collaboration with the Vietnam Association of Photographic Artists for the first time, aiming to promote the capacity and passion for photography of photographers nationwide and around the world through creating valuable photographic works about the cause of national liberation struggle, the cause of building and developing a peaceful and prosperous Vietnam; contributing to enriching and diversifying the source of photographic works, creating conditions for spreading good values widely and strongly, contributing to encouraging and promoting the patriotic emulation movement.
Deputy Prime Minister Mai Van Chinh presented First Prize to the winning authors.
After nearly 7 months of launching the contest, the Organizing Committee received 6,357 works from 591 authors. With 5 themes: Achievements, Dedication, Thousands of Miles of Country, Green Development, For Children, after 2 preliminary and final rounds, the Organizing Committee selected 131 works for the Exhibition round, of which 34 photos entered the final round.
The work “Ca Mau Cape” by Journalist - Vietnamese Artist Huynh Lam, Ca Mau Newspaper won First Prize in the topic “Thousand Miles of Mountains and Rivers”; The work “Cable-stayed Bridge on the Land of Nine Dragons” by author Nguyen Vinh Hien won First Prize in the topic “Achievement”; The work “Green Future Lesson” by author Nguyen Minh Quang won First Prize in the topic “For Children” and the work “Responsibility is not for anyone”, author Tran Hung Dao won First Prize in the topic “Dedication”. The topic “Green Development” did not have a First Prize.
Among the Top 131 works entering the Exhibition round awarded VAPA Certificates, the Vietnam Association of Photographic Artists awarded 2 gold medals, 4 silver medals, 6 bronze medals and 8 consolation prizes to 20 excellent works of art photography. The work "Ca Mau Cape" by Journalist - Artist Huynh Lam was honored to receive the Silver Medal.
