On the afternoon of June 11, Phu Quoc City Medical Center (Kien Giang) announced that it had just received patient NTT (33 years old, residing in Duong To hamlet, Duong To commune, Phu Quoc city) who was transferred from Cho Ray Hospital (HCMC) after more than 10 days of treatment due to a cobra bite.
Private clinic representative visited Mr. T. who is being treated at Phu Quoc Medical Center.
According to information from his family, at around 3:00 p.m. on May 31, Mr. T. was taking a nap in a hammock behind his house. When he woke up and just put his feet in the hammock, he was bitten by a snake on the outside of his right foot.
After being bitten by a snake, Mr. T. was in severe pain so his family took him to a private clinic on Nguyen Trung Truc Street (Duong Dong Ward) for examination.
Upon receiving information that the patient had been bitten by a snake, the clinic’s doctors coordinated with Dong Tam Snake Farm (Duong To Commune) to analyze the bite and determined that it was a cobra bite. Immediately, the clinic injected 5 vials of antivenom and provided first aid to the patient.
After that, the clinic advised the family to take Mr. T. to Ho Chi Minh City for further treatment that same day, but the family took him home to take care of him, and only took him to Cho Ray Hospital the next morning (June 1).
After 10 days of treatment at Cho Ray Hospital, around 2:00 p.m. on June 11, Mr. T's health was stable so his family took him to Phu Quoc Medical Center for continued treatment.
Speaking to Thanh Nien reporters, doctors at Phu Quoc Medical Center said that Mr. T.'s health is now stable. Medical staff are only monitoring and taking care of his wound from the cobra bite every day.
