Visiting Nguyen Ha Anh's family in Tu Trung town (Vinh Tuong), we were moved by the image of the 9th grade female student always working hard, sometimes meticulously taking care of her sick sister, sometimes cleaning the house, cooking to help her parents...
Ms. Dang Thi Phuong, Nguyen Ha Anh's mother, said: "My husband has esophageal cancer and my youngest daughter has cerebral palsy, so our family is in a difficult situation. For many years, I have had to work many jobs to earn an income to support the family. I myself have suffered a lot, but I feel so sorry for Ha Anh that my heart aches because she has to do many things beyond her age, especially when I have to stay at the hospital in Hanoi to take care of my husband, and at home, Ha Anh is the only one taking care of her sick sister. Ha Anh is very knowledgeable, always tries to help her mother, and is always self-motivated in her studies, achieving high results, and is praised by her teachers and friends."
Nguyen Ha Anh confided: “In the past, I was self-conscious about my family situation and did not dare to share with my friends the difficulties I was facing. However, over time, I received love and warmth from my teachers and friends, so I learned to overcome myself and gradually became more open and sociable. I soon determined that my learning goal was to accumulate knowledge, improve my qualifications, and develop myself. This will be the foundation for me to have the ability to change my life and my family's in the future.”
Right from her years at Tu Trung Town Primary School, Nguyen Ha Anh showed that she was a student with outstanding learning ability. During her 5 years of study, she always completed her study tasks excellently and achieved many proud achievements in intellectual playgrounds such as winning Third Prize in the Provincial Vietnamese Language Contest for Grade 3, First Prize in the Provincial Traffic Safety Contest for Grade 4, Gold Medal in the National Math Violympic Contest for Grade 5, etc.
Those achievements helped Ha Anh easily pass the entrance exam and capacity assessment to become a student of Vinh Tuong Secondary School. Entering the district's key secondary school with a high-quality educational environment, Ha Anh did not feel pressured but considered this an opportunity to develop herself.
Being guided and taught by good and experienced teachers and studying with talented students from other localities in the district, Ha Anh tried harder to study. During the 2 years of grade 6 and grade 7, she joined the Math gifted student team but did not achieve high results. In grade 8, she switched to try her hand at the Chemistry gifted student team. During the review and training process, inspired by teacher Nguyen Thi Thuy, Ha Anh loved Chemistry more and more and won second prize in the Chemistry gifted student exchange competition for grade 8 students at the district level.
Entering the 2024-2025 school year is a challenging year because Ha Anh not only has to prepare for the 10th grade entrance exam but also participates in the training for the gifted student team, while her father's illness is getting worse, her mother often has to stay in the hospital to take care of her, so in addition to studying, she has to take care of her younger sister and take care of the house. Despite the difficulties, with determination, Ha Anh has excellently won first prize in the provincial-level gifted student selection exam for grade 9 in Natural Science - Chemistry.
Sharing the secret to achieving high academic results, Ha Anh said: “I always listen to my teachers and complete my assignments seriously. In particular, to promote my self-study ability, I actively research and learn many advanced documents, study online, study in groups, and practice exam questions diligently to supplement and expand my knowledge and skills.
I also actively participate in extracurricular activities, cultural and artistic activities, and sports because this is a healthy way for me to overcome stress and fatigue, thereby studying more effectively. The support and encouragement of teachers, especially homeroom teacher Tran Minh Nguyet and Chemistry teacher Nguyen Thi Thuy and my friends have motivated me to overcome all difficulties and achieve the desired results."
Currently, the 10th grade entrance exam is approaching, Nguyen Ha Anh is trying hard to review to achieve the goal of passing the entrance exam to Vinh Phuc Specialized High School.
Ms. Tran Minh Nguyet, homeroom teacher of class 9G, Vinh Tuong Secondary School, said: "Nguyen Ha Anh is a shining example of perseverance in studying and in life. Despite difficult family circumstances, she still constantly strives, learns and strives to achieve many high achievements in her studies; at the same time, she actively participates in group and extracurricular activities at school. With perseverance, passion and the spirit of overcoming difficulties, I believe she will go far on the path of education, continuing to be the pride of her family, school and society."
