Mr. Nguyen Quang Tao:
From Puppet Police Sergeant to People's Police Lieutenant Colonel
On page 147 of the book "History of the revolutionary struggle of the Party Committee and people of Truong Xuan ward, Tam Ky city (1930 - 1975)" there is a passage: "With the motto of perseverance, endurance, continuity and pervasiveness, the Military Propaganda Committee of Tam Ky district (old) has planted dozens of internal bases into the enemy ranks, and captured hundreds of bases of soldiers, officers and employees of the enemy's administrative system from village, commune to district.
Such as appointing comrades Nguyen Ba Tuan as Chairman of Ky Huong commune; Le Thai Thinh as member of Ky Huong commune council; Tran Huong as Deputy Commune Chief in charge of security of Ky Huong commune; Nguyen Quang Tao as member of the police force, Nguyen Chung as Captain of Ky Huong militia...".
Enlightened by revolutionary ideals early on, while still in school, Mr. Nguyen Quang Tao (born in 1952) worked as a secret base for the working team of Ward 4 (now Truong Xuan Ward, Tam Ky).
In 1973, Mr. Tao was drafted into the army. At that time, following the organization's direction, Mr. Tao's mother - a member of the Indochinese Communist Party - sold 200-liter barrels of peanut oil to "run" into the puppet police force. He was sent to Saigon to study for 6 months, then he worked at the Quang Tin Police Department.
In 1974, Mr. Tao was transferred to the field police, no longer working in the office. “In that situation, with the support of the organization, his family “ran” some more money to transfer to become a special police officer. The spirit of the organization at that time set for him was to “climb high, go deep” into the enemy to exploit intelligence information,” Mr. Tao recalled.
Having matured through challenges from within the enemy's heartland, Mr. Nguyen Quang Tao was admitted to the Communist Party of Vietnam at a very special time: February 27, 1975, nearly a month before the liberation of his homeland (March 24, 1975); preparing to launch a campaign to simultaneously rise up to liberate urban areas and lead to the complete liberation of the South and unification of the country on April 30, 1975.
After the liberation day, Mr. Nguyen Quang Tao worked in the police force. He retired in 2003, with the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. Promoting the spirit of dedication and continuous contribution of a party member, he continued to participate in grassroots movements, holding the position of Secretary of the Party Cell of Xuan Dong block (Truong Xuan ward) for nearly 15 years.
“From a puppet police sergeant to being admitted to the Communist Party of Vietnam, there were times when I had to face difficulties and life-threatening situations, but I overcame them and did my job well, especially keeping secrets and ensuring the safety of the organization, family, and village. Joining the Party is a great honor for our generation. In any situation, I have absolute confidence in the Party's leadership and always keep in mind that I must constantly promote the role of a prestigious Party member in the locality, contributing to enriching the revolutionary achievements in the new period,” Mr. Tao shared.

Mr. Doan Tan Phat:
Get a "trial" by the revolution
His mother died in a US-puppet raid when Doan Tan Phat (born in 1955, Block 1, Vinh Dien Ward, Dien Ban Town) was only 10 years old. At that time, Phat had to work as a servant and learn a trade in Da Nang.
During the Tet Offensive of 1968, Mr. Phat returned home to the liberated area (Duy Trinh, Duy Xuyen) and met Ms. Muoi (Doan Thi Thuy, who died in 1969 - PV) who was an officer of the Quang Da Special Zone, so he asked to join the revolution. With the simple thought of having to drive out all the enemies.
“She told me, you are still young so you should do small jobs. Just go to Da Nang to learn a trade, she will assign you tasks… At the end of 1968, I met Ms. Muoi again. On the night of the 4th day of Tet 1969, she took me from Duy Trinh to Tan Tay, Xuyen Chau to meet Mr. Truong Cong Tro, who was then a member of the Standing Committee of the Special Zone. I was renamed “Trien” and was given a “trial” by the revolutionaries with the task of being a legal liaison between the war zone and Da Nang City. I started doing revolution from then on,” Mr. Phat said.
In 1971, Mr. Phat was transferred to the war zone, working at the Office of the Special Zone Youth Union. After going through fierce challenges, on September 2, 1972, Mr. Phat was honored to be admitted to the Youth Union. At the end of 1974, he was introduced to learn about the Party's sympathy and was admitted to the Party on May 25, 1975 at 150B Thong Nhat (now Le Duan Street, Da Nang City).
Being sent to study culture and business management, Mr. Phat worked at the Quang Nam - Da Nang Commercial Department. He then transferred to Dien Ban and in 1994 he retired when there was a policy of streamlining the payroll. After retirement, he actively participated in local movements and work, and is currently the Chairman of the Vinh Dien Ward Elderly Association.
“Being in the Party is a great honor. I have clearly defined goals and ideals. When the Party assigns tasks, I try to complete them, no matter what job I do, whether I am a specialist or a leader. There are very difficult tasks, I have to be creative, dare to think, dare to propose, and apply them flexibly to complete them well,” said Mr. Phat.
Regarding the current streamlining of the organizational apparatus, which he himself was involved in and volunteered to do exactly 30 years ago when the Party had a policy of streamlining the payroll, he said: "I believe that our country will enter a new era of development, starting with the effective implementation of the revolution of streamlining the organizational apparatus as stated by General Secretary To Lam."

Mr. Nguyen Van Hoa:
Firm belief
Born in a war-torn homeland, at the age of 20, Mr. Nguyen Van Hoa (born in 1944, in village 5, Tien Loc commune, Tien Phuoc district) volunteered to join the local guerrillas, then joined the army in Regiment 21, Division 2.
Mr. Hoa and his comrades traveled to all battlefields, from Quang Nam to Quang Ngai, up to Kon Tum. The famous battles of Regiment 31 could not have been without the role of Mr. Hoa and his comrades - the soldiers who scouted the battlefield, preparing the battlefield for enemy attacks.
He was wounded many times in many different battles, but the most serious injury was when Mr. Hoa was assigned as the leader of the attack on the enemy's radio command center and artillery position in the Dak Glay campaign, Kon Tum in June 1968.
After this time, due to his declining health, he returned to his hometown in 1969, joining a working team in Tien Loc commune. During a business trip, Mr. Hoa was injured by an enemy ambush, captured and exiled to Con Dao, that was in 1971.
During his time in Con Dao prison from 1971 to 1973, Mr. Hoa recalled: “At that time, many of my comrades and I were brutally tortured by the enemy. They electrocuted, beat, and shackled our soldiers in an attempt to extract information. But at that time, we refused to reveal anything even though our lives were in their hands.
I thought I had died in Con Dao, but thinking back, I really don't know where the strength came from to survive and be released in 1973. After returning home and recuperating for a while, I joined the working team, continuing the reconnaissance mission to prepare the battlefield for the biggest campaign of the entire nation in the spring of 1975, the campaign to liberate the homeland and unify the country."
On March 8, 1975, while on duty with his comrades on the battlefield, Mr. Hoa received the decision to join the Communist Party of Vietnam. On the battlefield, there could be no admission ceremony, no oath under the flag and portrait of President Ho Chi Minh, but in the hearts of communist soldiers, the most powerful oath was the determination to fight and win this decisive battle.
At this time, the Tien Loc Commune Party Cell had 5 people, with comrade Nguyen Huu Phuoc as Secretary, leading the attack from Tien Loc up, to coordinate with other attack forces to liberate Tien Phuoc district on March 10, 1975.
After liberation, in many positions, Mr. Hoa and the army and people of Tien Loc united and worked together to overcome the consequences of bombs and mines, reclaim land, increase production, and build a revolutionary government. The 50th anniversary of the liberation of the homeland is also the 50th anniversary of the loyal attachment to the Party of the loyal Communist Party member Nguyen Van Hoa.
GLORIOUS
Mr. Dang Mau Thiet:
Keeping the oath on April 30, 1975
Born and raised in a family with a rich revolutionary tradition, Mr. Dang Mau Thiet (born in 1950, Phuoc Xuyen block, Nam Phuoc town, Duy Xuyen) joined the local guerrillas at the age of 16.
On February 22, 1968, he joined Unit C1 of the Duy Xuyen District Military Agency, participating in the battle in the Central and Western battlefields. Among them, we must mention the ambush at Dinh culvert, destroying an American-puppet platoon; or the attack on the headquarters of the Duc Duc Nationalist Party district...
During the resistance war against the US, Mr. Dang Mau Thiet always showed his intelligence, bravery, tenacious fighting, and willingness to sacrifice for the ideal cause of national liberation, so he was considered and admitted to the Party. And the day he was admitted to the Party was a very special day, because it was also the day of the Liberation of the South and the reunification of the country.
Mr. Thiet shared: “At 8:00 a.m. on April 30, 1975, the Party cell held a ceremony to admit Party members. Reading the oath before the Party flag, the national flag and the portrait of President Ho Chi Minh was the most sacred thing in my life.
Each sentence, each word is always engraved in my heart, fostering my will and motivating me to devote my whole life to the noble ideals, for the Party. That oath is a promise before the Party, before the Party cell; a commitment to loyalty, the will to strive for life for the goals and ideals of the Party.
At the end of the ceremony that day, people held hands, hugged tightly, and congratulated me. I felt happy and proud, as if I had been given more motivation and confidence to continue on the path ahead, to strive to contribute more to be worthy of being a member of the Communist Party of Vietnam."
Mr. Thiet's joy and honor multiplied when, immediately after that, our main troops from each direction simultaneously attacked Saigon's inner city, captured the enemy's key targets, creating the historic spring victory of 1975, completely liberating the South and reunifying the country.
In 1993, Mr. Thiet retired under the regime and was recognized as a war invalid. Returning to normal life, he still actively contributed ideas to participate in building the Party and government. He was also elected to hold the position of Deputy Secretary of the Party Cell and Head of Xuyen Tay Village (now Phuoc Xuyen Block, Nam Phuoc Town).
The year 2025 marks the 50th spring of dedication to the Party. For Mr. Thiet, the oath under the Party flag that year remains intact in the heart of Uncle Ho's soldier.
MAI NHI - PHI THANH
The story of "Little Guerrilla Girl" in Quang Nam
“To join the Party, we had to go through difficult trials. After the victory in Thuong Duc, my superiors assigned me and another female guerrilla the task of escorting 82 prisoners to An Diem. That was the decisive test for us to join the Party.”
At the age of 73, Ms. Huynh Thi Hai (residing in Ban Mai village, Ba commune, Dong Giang) still remembers clearly the moment she was assigned a particularly important political task after the victory in Thuong Duc in 1974. This task, according to Ms. Hai's description, was a challenging journey, before she was officially admitted to the Communist Party of Vietnam.
Mrs. Hai was from Duy Phuoc (Duy Xuyen). In 1972, during the fierce war, while she was a guerrilla in the commune, Mrs. Hai was sent to study a cultural supplementary class in Thanh My (Nam Giang). After studying for a while, Mrs. Hai suffered from a high fever, so her studies were interrupted.
A year later, in 1973, Ms. Hai was assigned to the Quang Da Production Board (established on March 12, 1973, and renamed Quyet Thang State Farm in 1975) in Dong Giang, tasked with economic development and participating in production activities, before being mobilized for a "test" in the Thuong Duc Campaign at the end of 1974.
“When we participated in the Thuong Duc Liberation Campaign, we went to the rear with the initial mission of helping people evacuate from the dangerous area. After that, I, along with Nguyen Thi Hai, from Dai Loc, was assigned to escort 82 prisoners from Thuong Duc to An Diem.
Throughout the journey, we carried backpacks on our shoulders and held guns in our hands, “leading” the prisoners without daring to be careless. When we arrived, many people were surprised, because they did not think that two small female guerrillas could complete this important mission,” Ms. Hai said.
After completing the courageous ordeal, Ms. Hai returned to Quyet Thang Farm to continue her mission of increasing production. At that time, the Trung Mang area was a barren mountainous area with a forest. The population was sparse, with almost only one “farm village” remaining.
Before going to the battle of Thuong Duc, Ms. Hai attended a Party sympathy class for more than 3 months. After returning from that trip, she was honored to be admitted into the Party by the Party Cell of Team 6 - Quyet Thang Farm.
“I remember that the admission ceremony was held on the night of February 2, 1975. It was very solemn. The entire Party cell of Team 6 attended. The reason the admission ceremony was held at night was because during the day we had to do production tasks,” Ms. Hai recalled.
Time flies, in the blink of an eye it has been 50 years since Ms. Hai was admitted to the Party. She has struggled to make a living for more than half her life, but every time she recalls that moment, Ms. Hai still remembers it vividly. "The honor of joining the Party is the greatest happiness for me, and I will never forget it in my life" - Ms. Hai said with pride, holding her Party membership card in her hand.

Party building and rectification - a story from 50 years ago
Spring At Ty 2025, exactly 50 years since the liberation of the homeland and the reunification of the country, on the journey to meet Quang Nam Party members who were admitted to the Party in 1975, we had the opportunity to hear the story of Party building in the first year of liberation that still shines today.
According to data from the Organizing Committee of the Quang Nam Provincial Party Committee, there are currently 279 party members admitted to the Party in 1975 who are still alive in the province, out of a total of 380 outstanding children of the homeland who were admitted to the Party in that historic month and year.
Through the images of the party members we had the opportunity to meet, each of their personal stories contributed to the story of the provincial Party Committee in the first year of liberation, building a new life. And the section we mentioned here is the building and rectification of the Party during the period when the entire Party and the entire people focused on protecting the achievements of the revolution, gradually restoring and building the homeland.
In his story, Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Chien (born in 1949, active in the Party Cell of Block 2, Vinh Dien Ward, Dien Ban) shared that after a period of training and testing at the Dien Minh Commune Working Team (now Dien Minh Ward), on February 15, 1975, he was honored to be admitted to the Party. After the liberation of the homeland, there were also a very small number of cadres and Party members who could not avoid temporary fluctuations, but the Party immediately made rectifications and then seriously organized inspections and evaluations of the rectification results within the Party.
Based on the time period Mr. Chien recounted, to ensure accuracy, we turned to the Chronicle of Historical Events of the Quang Nam Provincial Party Committee, looking for the story of Party building and rectification in 1975, and felt more clearly the current relevance that shines through today.
Less than 3 months after the liberation of the homeland, when realizing that there were wrong phenomena and thoughts within the Party, on June 18, 1975, the Standing Committee of the Quang Da Special Zone Party Committee issued Directive No. 31 to correct and prevent; calling on cadres and Party members to promote the good traditions of the Party Committee, overcome difficulties, unite, and build a revolutionary ethical viewpoint and stance of "Diligence, thrift, integrity, impartiality and selflessness".
While self-criticism and criticism within the Party have been promoted in recent years, 50 years ago, while overcoming the consequences of war and building a new life, the Standing Committee of the Quang Da Special Zone Party Committee launched a movement of self-criticism and criticism of individual erroneous thoughts throughout the Party.
On that basis, depending on the level of mistakes, discipline will be imposed within the Party, the agency, or prosecution will be initiated. Each agency will review and resolutely expel bad elements and opportunistic elements who have not improved after being educated; implement the "4 managements": ideological management, work management, relationship management, and living management.
Determining the task of building a strong Party from the Party cell, a strong Party cell from the Party members, on August 21, 1975, the Standing Committee of the Quang Da Special Zone Party Committee issued Directive No. 32 on promoting the campaign to improve the quality of Party members and build strong Party cells.
The objective of the directive is to make each party member imbued with the Party Charter; build close ties with the masses, gain the trust of the masses, have prestige among the masses, organize and lead the masses to effectively implement the Party's policies. At the same time, build each party cell as the nucleus of leading the masses at the grassroots level.
On October 2, 1975, the Standing Committee of the Quang Da Special Zone Party Committee issued Directive No. 37 requesting each Party cell and Party cell to hold a meeting to review the situation after studying Directive No. 31 dated June 18, 1975. The entire Party Committee seriously organized the work of evaluating the situation of internal struggles within agencies and units and the work of managing, educating, and inspecting Party members in each Party cell and Party cell...
From the story of Party building 50 years ago, at the time considered the most difficult, reflecting on today so that each Party member can strive to improve himself.
