Improve skills in handling child sexual abuse cases

(QBĐT) - On May 5, the Department of Health opened a training course to improve the capacity of police officers on online child sexual abuse (CSAB) and gender-friendly and responsive investigation skills, promoting community-based support models.

The training course was attended by 35 trainees who are officers from the Criminal Police Department, Provincial Police and the Police of Truong Xuan, Truong Son (Quang Ninh), Kim Thuy, Ngan Thuy (Le Thuy), Thuong Hoa, Trong Hoa, Dan Hoa, Hoa Tien, Trung Hoa, Hong Hoa communes (Minh Hoa).

 

Taking place over 2 days, May 5-6, the training course equipped trainees with legal regulations on handling and resolving cases of child sexual abuse on the Internet (CST), forms of child sexual abuse on the Internet; psychological characteristics of children, signs of recognition and practice of recognizing children who are victims of CST on the Internet; friendly investigation process when handling CST cases on the Internet with a victim-centered approach; coordination between the police force and other forces in protecting, supporting and resolving CST cases on the Internet. Trainees also participated in practicing resolving CST cases on the Internet.

The training course was organized with the goal of providing adolescents aged 10-18, especially girls and ethnic minority adolescents in communes of Quang Ninh, Le Thuy and Minh Hoa districts with comprehensive, gender-sensitive and age-appropriate support when they are sexually abused and exploited on MTM through a pilot community-based support model under the project "Community-based support model for children who are victims of violence and abuse on cyberspace for the period 2023-2025".
