Currently, the Traffic Works Maintenance Management Board and Public Passenger Transport Operation Management Board (abbreviated as the Maintenance Management Board) under the Department of Construction is entrusted with the management of 8 national highways with a length of 873.29km and the management of 79 provincial roads with a length of 1,690km. Every year, the province is often directly affected by storms, causing some roads to collapse, flood... seriously damaging the road infrastructure. On the other hand, some current roads in localities in the province are small in scale, with narrow, damaged, degraded roads... and are under pressure from rapidly increasing traffic volume, heavy trucks...

In order to effectively maintain roads, the maintenance management board has regularly updated and compiled statistics on the traffic infrastructure system in the province to serve the management, construction and maintenance work. At the same time, coordinate with competent authorities to strengthen inspection, detection and strict handling of violations of traffic corridors. Along with that, focus on urging road management and maintenance companies to actively carry out periodic repairs, corrections and repairs to enhance the exploitation capacity of the roads under their management. Thereby, regular maintenance work is increasingly improved, minor damages are promptly repaired, the road surface basically has no potholes, no deep local depressions. On the roads there are no more obstacles, trees blocking the view of traffic participants, the basic traffic safety system is complete, clear, traffic is guaranteed to be smooth and safe. Units regularly maintain and repair road marking systems, adjust, repaint, and supplement traffic safety systems.

Currently, the maintenance management board is implementing 23 packages for regular management and maintenance of roads with a length of 2,563.29 km (including: 3 packages on national highways, 20 packages on provincial roads). To date, the maintenance management board has completed the selection of contractors and implemented the regular management and maintenance of national highways in the period of 2024-2027.

To improve the quality of road maintenance work, contributing to preserving the traffic infrastructure, the maintenance management board is actively urging units to implement bidding packages to speed up the progress of maintenance items on the national highway and provincial road systems. At the same time, road maintenance units develop plans to prevent, combat and overcome the consequences of natural disasters on the roads. Arrange permanent personnel to promptly handle incidents caused by storms, ensuring smooth and safe traffic on the roads during the storm season.

In particular, special attention is paid to the application of digital technology in road management as well as the application of new and advanced technologies in maintenance work to improve the quality of works. Along with that, regular patrols, inspections and protection of road corridors, detection of inadequacies in the traffic organization process to propose urgent solutions, ensuring safety for people and vehicles participating in traffic; coordinate with localities to propagate to people living along both sides of the roads about violations of the law on the scope of management and protection of road traffic infrastructure.
