According to the case file, on November 1, the Dien Ban Town Police Fanpage received a message from a Facebook account named "LV" of Mr. VHL (residing in Hanoi) about being tricked by a subject residing in Dien Ban Town into sending The Shogun 16mm Pickleball Paddle via post, then blocking contact.
According to Mr. L., the subject used the Facebook account "Vu Le" to scam people into exchanging sports rackets on many different social networking forums.
Recognizing that this is a relatively new and sophisticated method of fraud and property appropriation on the Internet, the leaders of the Town Police assigned the Criminal Police Team to send an Investigation Team to verify the information.
After applying synchronous professional measures, the authorities identified the perpetrator of the above fraud as Le Van Hoang Vu.
According to the investigation results, Le Van Hoang Vu used many Facebook and Zalo accounts such as "Vu Le", "Thien Ton Smash", "Le Ba Ton" to post on groups to exchange, discuss or repair sports rackets (Pickleball and badminton).
Vu pretended to own high-end rackets and posted information about exchanging rackets with victims. After reaching an agreement, Vu provided a delivery address, received the rackets from the victims, but did not return the rackets as promised.
In particular, to create trust, Vu also created fake shipping invoices to trick victims into thinking he had sent the goods. After taking possession of the property, Vu quickly resold it on other social media platforms for illegal profits.
In addition to the above incident, on October 26, Vu tricked the Facebook account owner "M. Quang Ngai" to take possession of an ASAMA110-W Pickleball racket, then sold it to someone else for 2.6 million VND. Vu also received 5 badminton rackets from customers but did not repair them but kept them for sale, including rackets of the Yonex Nanoray Z-Speed, Arcsaber 10 and Astrox 100zz brands.
Currently, Dien Ban Town Police are temporarily detaining 8 sports rackets, 3 delivery boxes, 1 iPhone 12 Pro, 1 Air Blade motorbike and many related documents.
