On the morning of April 30, 2025 - exactly 50 years since the country was reunited, the heart of Ho Chi Minh City was awakened by the resounding trumpets and the bustling and heroic drums of the parades.

From early morning, tens of thousands of people poured into the city center. In their hands were red flags with yellow stars, on their shirts were the national emblem, and in their hearts was deep pride.

After 50 years, thousands of footsteps once again thronged Le Duan Street, heading towards the Reunification Hall. This time, there was no longer the atmosphere of war, no longer the image of the Liberation Army tank crashing through the main gate - ending a war that lasted more than two decades. Today, the Reunification Hall is where thousands of people gather in a festive atmosphere, where history, present and future intersect.

13,000 people from the elite armed forces and representatives of the people from all walks of life walked across the stage. Squadrons of dozens of Su-30MK2 fighters and helicopters flew through the clouds, dropping noise in the sky of Ho Chi Minh City.

The old men silently wiped away their tears as they saw the army marching by, the children sitting on their fathers’ shoulders waving flags, and the young people standing at attention saluting the flag. All of this created a scene that was both majestic and intimate.

They came not only to "watch" the parade, but to relive, to meet history again - not through books, but right in the heart of the city, amidst the sound of military music, amidst the steady footsteps of the armed forces advancing across the stage.

To have such a perfect ceremony, tens of thousands of people have been silently preparing for many months. Each formation practiced under the scorching sun, each squadron took to the skies for test flights. The sound system, television, security, logistics, all coordinated in harmony like a symphony of dedication and responsibility.

It's not just about event planning, it's about gratitude for the past and appreciation for the present.

A special highlight of this year's parade is the participation of honorary troops from China, Laos and Cambodia - three countries with long-standing traditional friendship with Vietnam.

Inviting friendly countries to participate in the parade alongside Vietnamese forces shows an open Vietnam, ready to cooperate for peace, stability and regional development.

What moved many people the most was the weather and the understanding of the magnitude of this momentous event. After many days of unseasonal rain in Ho Chi Minh City, the morning of April 30 saw clear skies, light sunshine, and gentle winds.

During a previous rehearsal, it suddenly rained, thousands of soldiers practiced in the rain. That image really touched the people's emotions.

On social networking sites, many people even said they were willing to exchange mild weather for Ho Chi Minh City on this historic April day: "I live in Hanoi, I ask God to exchange favorable weather for Ho Chi Minh City on this important day. Hanoi is ready to receive rain for many days!"

And then, as if listening to people's hearts, on the morning of April 30, the sun gently spread over each row of ancient trees leading to the Reunification Hall. On the routes where the parade and marching procession passed, the sun gently peeked through the treetops, blending with each drum beat and each formation of soldiers.

And today, May 1, Hanoi suddenly poured heavy rain, like “rain washing the temple”, a belated but profound congratulation from nature. If April 30 was a majestic symphony in the bright sunshine, then today is the “aftershock”, the rain seemed to wash away worries, leaving only gratitude and spreading faith.

Many people say jokingly and meaningfully: "The sky waited until the ceremony was over before it rained, probably wanting to celebrate with the country ." It may be just a coincidence, but in the spirit of a great anniversary, Vietnamese people believe that nature does not stand aside, but rather breathes with the same rhythm as people.

The sky was clear when the ceremony began. It rained gently when the ceremony ended. Just that alone was enough to show that nature understood people's hearts. The whole world seemed to bow before half a century of peace, before people who knew how to cherish history and live for the future.
