Thanks to exploiting the potential strengths of nature, culture and people to develop tourism, the number of tourists to Mu Cang Chai district has increased every year. In 2022, this locality welcomed over 350,000 tourists, bringing in revenue of more than 270 billion VND.

According to Ms. Luong Thi Xuyen, Vice Chairman of Mu Cang Chai District People's Committee, to become a tourist district, a destination of "Identity, safety, friendliness", the locality has identified the viewpoint of tourism development with 4 focuses including: Developing tourism in a professional, modern, "green, identity, safety, friendliness" direction; focusing on diversifying tourism products with potential and advantages to attract tourists; promoting socialization, attracting all resources both inside and outside the province to invest in tourism development; maximizing the potential and advantages of natural factors, culture and indigenous people to develop tourism... In particular, poverty reduction policies, especially tourism development associated with preserving and promoting cultural values ​​in life, have opened up opportunities for hundreds of poor people to have production capital, have jobs to increase income, and gradually improve living conditions. Thereby, creating opportunities for people to develop the economy, especially during tourist seasons, people have participated in activities and produced products to serve tourists' needs, thereby creating a significant source of income for local people.
