Accordingly, vehicles passing through BOT Phu Huu (on Nguyen Thi Tu Street, about 100m from Nguyen Duy Trinh Street) will be charged a one-way ticket price of 14,000 - 110,000 VND/trip by Vicem Ha Tien Cement Joint Stock Company - the investor (price applied from now until the end of 2024).
Businesses and people wonder
During the toll collection period at Phu Huu BOT, some residents and businesses stopped at the station to question and even react to the price and the cases of fee exemptions and reductions.
Ms. VP (a resident living near the toll station) said: "It feels unreasonable that businesses in the area have to pay a fee when passing through the station. They have already paid the full road fee, but now they have to pay an additional fee to travel a distance of only a few dozen meters from their home to the toll station."
The headquarters of Vietnam Expressway Engineering Services Joint Stock Company (VECE) is in front of the toll station, about 90m from Nguyen Duy Trinh Street. But every day, we have to go around Phu Huu BOT and pay the toll.
According to VECE, this unit is headquartered at 7 Nguyen Thi Tu Street (in the premises of the Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay Expressway Operation Center). The entrance to the headquarters is located near the beginning of the road connecting Nguyen Duy Trinh Street to Phu Huu Industrial Park, on the left side right in front of the Phu Huu BOT toll station.
Therefore, VECE vehicles and staff must enter the Phu Huu BOT toll station and then turn around and exit the toll station before entering the headquarters to work. VECE vehicles and staff vehicles are not used for business purposes and do not benefit from the project when passing through the Phu Huu BOT toll station.
According to the decision of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee, after one year of operation, the investor will check and update actual vehicle data, compare the approved price plan, and propose that the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee consider adjusting the appropriate price - Photo: CHAU TUAN
Proposal to consider fee exemption
Based on the above facts, VECE said it has sent a petition to the investor and the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Transport to consider not charging fees for VECE vehicles and staff.
Previously, in a petition to the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee and Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee, some businesses said that collecting fees at BOT Phu Huu on Nguyen Thi Tu Street at this time is a great pressure on export businesses.
When exporting a container of goods from Ho Chi Minh City to foreign markets (and vice versa), businesses have to pay a lot of fees, such as road tolls at existing BOTs, import-export fees through ports, import-export taxes, etc. Businesses almost have no profit after paying the additional Phu Huu BOT fee.
Regarding this issue, a representative of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Transport said that they have assigned the Ho Chi Minh City Road Traffic Infrastructure Management Center to coordinate with relevant parties to closely monitor the actual situation in the first days of toll collection at BOT Phu Huu.
Note the explanation and consideration of appropriate adjustments from people's questions and suggestions, based on issued circulars and decisions.

Phu Huu BOT road project has an investment of 461 billion VND
The road project connecting Nguyen Duy Trinh to Phu Huu Industrial Park was signed by Ho Chi Minh City with an investor under the BOT (build - operate - transfer) form in 2012.
The project has a total investment of about 461 billion VND with a construction scale of about 2.6km long and 30m wide. After 12 years of construction, the investor has just completed the project and is allowed to collect tolls to recover capital.
